New Year, Same Mindset

Hi fellow Lions,

Today I wanted to discuss the importance of keeping a consistency and growth mindset, regardless of what the monetary values are doing!

New Year, Same Mindset

With the turning of the calendar year over into the next one, 2023, it's a good time to reflect a little bit, even though I've done a lot of reflecting regardless. I think reflection is very important to do, just as long as you don't do it too much, or in an egotistical way! Lol

With all of the craziness that has occurred over the last year in the crypto ecosystem, one of the things that remains important and something we all should keep in mind is that we need to have things that we are building, instead of just throwing money at the wall to see what sticks. Just like the train here, it's going to keep moving and it's good to try to keep pace with it so that we can hop on when the time is right instead of it blowing right by us when we have our attention turned elsewhere!

IMG_1461.JPG

One of the things that I've been glad that I haven't done myself personally, is gotten into the noise that is the DeFi space over the past 2 years or so. I've dabbled in it a very tiny amount but it was all far too confusing and complicated for me so I've stayed out of it for the most part, except for a minute amount of Cub that I got ahold of and is likely completely gone at this point since I haven't touched it in about a year or more now lol.

What that has meant for me though is that I'm focusing on building my portfolio in other, more consistent areas such as Bitcoin, Litecoin and some others like Hive so that I can have things that are a safer bet versus the platforms and (shit)coins that are out there offering ridiculous APR's and risk protection, and ad nauseum other offers and snake oil shit to try to entice people to hold their bags so they can make a quick exit.

IMG_0786.jpeg

If there is one thing that places like Celsius and FTX have taught me it's that for me, my style of crypto is far safer and less profitable but more consistent in the long run lol. I don't, for the most part, have to worry about being rug pulled or getting my information stolen and exposed out there because I signed up for shticoin 123 that was broadcasted to me by smalldicktony333 on Discord. This allows me to sleep far more soundly at the end of the day than I would if I was wasting my time and energy in these other areas. Don't get me wrong, I know that people have made a considerable amount of money buying and flipping these shitcoins but that's not something I have the taste or patience for so I stay far away from it and the headaches and losses associated with it.

This means that although I am investing and engaging in cryptocurrency, I am far more conservative in my approach than I see a lot of people even here on Hive. There's nothing wrong with that but this is the mindset that I've had for 2021, 2022 and it will continue to be the mindset for 2023. It won't net me crazy income that will allow us to sell our place and move to a mansion but it also is less likely that someone will break into my house in the middle of the night and put a gun to my head looking for the keys for my crypto that I'm flaunting like a doofus lol.

IMG_0789.jpeg

I am looking forward to the prospects that occur in the next year for the cryptocurrency ecosystem, we know that governments and other institutions are going to try to claw their way into our wallets at every possible step but with people in the tech sector, there is always ways and things that people are going to get around that nonsense so that we can keep our assets, our assets.

I'll be still buying Bitcoin, Litecoin and Hive with the engagement being focused on the Hive ecosystem itself on chain such as Hive via PeakD, Ecency and Leo Finance and not wasting my time in Discord and other off-chain activities. I think these building strategies are going to be what is going to bring forward people and the next generation of dolphins, orcas and whales in 2023!

You?

What are your plans for 2023 in the crypto space? Are you going to try to get into other things like DeFi or are you going to try and play it safe like me and stay away, focus on building instead?

Beautiful shots, well done. Keep them shots coming for us to view.

Thought this was your recent post, haha. Old but still good.

Thanks dude! All good, I know I’m fooled when it comes to the posts feed vs blog feed lol. I have taken some interesting photos over the years but the crazy thing is how good phone photos are these days. A lot of my photos these days are taken with a newer phone. I can’t wait to see what my brand new phone does lol but I haven’t bought one yet.

Yeah I need a new one too, I still have an old Note 8, haha.

for me, I am trying to stay safe this coming years. I have tried some Defi, and not doing much for me. Also buying shitvoin and hoping for a thousand percentage increase in a short of time, but ends up getting rugged. I am still happy that most of that money is small in amount, and all of that is the money I got from airdrop.

HP and HBD is far more appealing for me at the moment. It might be a long road, but getting like 50HBD for monthly interest on savings might a better and safer investment rather than trying a new defi of those out of mind APR on cypro based lending platform or services.

!LUV

Yeah if you’re going to do that it’s better to sink the money into HBD I think. The only downside to that is HBD isn’t on many exchanges but hive is so you often have to switch to Hive to do it.

Oh, Wow! What an amazing post! @cmplxty , thank you for always inspiring us on Hive.

Right there with you, buddy. I have never been a Finance person anyway (I have my hubby for that - LOL) but I got onto Hive and it is oh so easy to get distracted and pulled into all those projects. And Discord. That reminds me I have to go on a 'leaving-server spree' over there again because I want fewer distractions and more focus on my blogging and arting. That's it.

Yeah I never spend time in discord unless it’s to get support on PeakD or Splinterlands or something, otherwise I’m on chain! It’s felt good lately, I’ve stopped playing Splinterlands and focused more on hive itself and I feel a lot better. Splinterlands was taking up far too much of my time lol.

I’m glad that you’re looking to get back into focusing on better things that are on chain! It’s helpful for sure and should be better in the end I think!

. . . we know that governments and other institutions are going to try to claw their way into our wallets at every possible step but with people in the tech sector, there is always ways and things that people are going to get around that nonsense so that we can keep our assets, our assets.

That's what I actually hate, interfering in our private spaces in the name of protecting us, but in reality, it's more of extending their parasitical arms. I love to see how these regulators chase their tails.

Yeah they love to claim it’s all for our “protection” when it’s not at all. They could care less about you and I at the end of the day.

I also agree with you sir @cmplxty nowadays we need to think critically 😊

Yeah we do it’s sadly something not done too often!

Are still following this?

I am having an eye on some New coins with good potential!

Hi, thanks for sharing. I didn't know about presearch that you can get paid when you search on the net :D Sounds good, For me, late (I know) in 2024 for example, I want to do deep research about this kind of site or platform. Also to grow more on this one.

I started reading intelligent investor and they talked about how if you buy random shit coins then you are just going to average out over time with gains and losses.

I do not miss chasing coins. It’s been almost 2 years for me, bitcoin/hive maxi. I’m not against other projects, I just don’t see the same kind of foundation and community I’d like to see and it’s not even worth the effort to look now just because something new came out with a promise, whether it’s for a quick buck or something sustainable, I’ll only check it out if it has the same kind of devotion and well thought out design that can survive a bear market.

In the short term, honestly I’m not even sure about bitcoin and hive. Let’s see how much regulators want to keep us poor in order to try and save their currencies. And let’s see if meme coins built on bitcoin will be a point of failure for bitcoin or for all of crypto.

I’m not going anywhere either way, nothing is guaranteed and everything seems unstable now. I’d rather stick it out with a good community than FOMO back into the rapidly inflating traditional economy.

For sure agree with you here dude. Lots of uncertainty on many levels! Hard to say what’s going to work. Chaos theory is wild! Lol

Hmm majority of my crypto holdings are in BTC, and I intend to keep it this way. The remaining portions are more speculative and a little for entertainment (e.g. memecoins). I am curious though, why LTC?

Yeah I have primarily bitcoin as well but I do expand out to others.

I like litecoin because the transactions are a lot faster and fees are a lot lower. Lightning network is good and has improved since I started but I think for a spendable token, litecoin is a good option. We can’t just hoard the things, we need to actually spend them lol

I see, thanks for sharing!
