Today, we began the initial stage of the Hive Borehole project, which is typically the starting point for all project work. This project has proven to be quite demanding as it involves two simultaneous tasks.
In our previous update to the Hive community, we mentioned the need to expand the project to provide water access to the residents of Asamang town. Asante Asamang is a large town, and like many other towns located on the outskirts of Kumasi, the lack of water access is a significant challenge.
The Hive Empower Community Project is bringing hope to the town by improving access to water. Upon completion, the project will provide two boreholes that will supply clean drinking water to the majority of the local population. This is a significant step towards addressing the water accessibility issue in the town.
The first phase of the Hive Borehole Project took off today. This phase involves the drilling, piping, and pump installation, all of which are handled by our expert drilling company.
Although the drilling process typically takes around 6 hours to complete, the timeframe may vary depending on the specific location. In the case of Asamang, the terrain is not rocky, allowing the team to utilize their specialized small machinery, typically reserved for drilling in non-rocky areas.
Work commenced earlier today since two tasks were to be done, both the drilling of the new borehole and the renovation of the old borehole in the Asamang town. The driller and his team were determined to make the most of their time by tackling both projects simultaneously.
To ensure the speedy completion of phase one, the team focused their efforts on the two facilities. The driller was particularly impressive in his approach to the task, ensuring that every detail was taken care of.
It was evident that the team was committed to giving us good results, and we believe with such a determined and skilled workforce, we have both the old and new boreholes functioning and supplying a good amount of water in the week ahead.
The renovation work was to replace the old hand pump with an electrically-powered system similar to the borehole systems we have been constructing. This new system would include a water tank to store water for community use. The drillers were experts and did a great job with the initial phase of the work.
The next stage of the project will include laying the foundation for the wall which will house the taps, the installation of the water tanks, tiling, and other electrical works. Although the Asamang project is demanding, we aim to complete all work in the coming weeks and make it available for community use.
