Hip, hip, hurray! It's that time of the year again. Merry Christmas, everyone, in advance.

Christmas is finally here, we can feel it in our bones, and am sure everyone is excited about it, Christmas is a season of love to me, not just love for your family but it's a time to extend it to other people outside, although extending love doesn't have to be only on a festive period but that what this season is mainly about.

It's the birth of our lord Jesus; in as much as everyone uses this season to drink and make merry, let's remember the reason for the season; it's time to reflect on our lives, where we are able to achieve our plans for the year. I love my Church. We use this season to win more souls for Christ.

Anytime we get to this festive period, I remember my mother and aunt how they will use a broom to take my shoe size, and sometimes, they will end up buying both the shoes and oversized clothes. Whenever I complain that the cloth is too big, they will tell me that I will grow into the cloth with time. They will add tissue paper to my shoes so that it can fit well.

One of the clothes they bought for me took about three years to fit well in my body, aha! I won't stop laughing anytime I remember that cloth. We all look forward to our festive clothes each year; one of the years, my mom didn't get us any clothes; you need to see us crying like we lost our beloved that year.

My mom was very upset with our attitude, and she decided never to buy Christmas clothes again, which she later still did but not after teaching us a lesson. She told us to wear the clothes she bought for us in July. If we don't tell anybody, they won't know it's not new, we should wear it with pride.

We had no choice but to manage what we have, from that particular year to now that we are adults, we no longer bother about Christmas clothes, after all, you don't know all our clothes, those recent ones that were bought for us we learned to wear it with pride, then our mother made us to always share our clothes that are no longer our size to children that don't have anyone.

She taught me a valuable lesson that made all the anxiety and rush of Christmas no longer move me; the only thing that bothers me is how to give to the needy ones around me. My mother told us that she doesn't want us to always have this mindset that it's only the festive period that we appreciate whatever was bought for us and there will be times when there is no money to buy clothes for us during this period, so we should cherish whatever we have got whether festive or not.

I plan to join my church for Let's Go Out Fishing; we go to different communities spreading the gospel, doing our outreach, and giving out free medical care, foodstuff, and books for both children and adults, especially in rural areas. I will still travel to my hometown to flex the season with my siblings, although my parents aren't going. But I want to go enjoy the fresh breeze from the sea.
