I'm Playing Modern on My Alt Account!
Last week, I had a day where I just wanted to play some Splinterlands so I dusted off my alt account which had been sitting idle to try and grind my way up in Modern and see where I could get with the Low-Level cards I had available.
I actually enjoyed it and continued playing to the point where I now have 250 battles in and reached Silver 1 where I'm kind of struggling to get out of.
I have a 54.8% win rate mainly thanks to an easy climb early on and I earned 77.669 SPS which isn't much but also not that bad as I'm close the 1 SPS on each win at this point with 5434 SPS Staked.
My Go-To Modern Deck!
The one deck which works with many different game rules that I tend to choose for often times is a Water Deck with my Possibilus Summoner. It's Melee/magic oriented and has quite some synergy.
The Possibilus The Wise Summoner of which I have a golden copy is the base of the strategy. Instead of playing a Melee monster in the first position which would get the benefit of the Trample ability. I tend the play the Djinn Oshannus Legendary Reward Card. Mainly because it has a lot of speed and counters Magic attacks which otherwise the deck is very vulnerable toward. Another option is to play a melee tank and the Baakjira in 2nd place which also somewhat counters Magic. I usually tend to choose for the Noa The Just in 2nd position since the Rust ability really does wonders while it has high speed. The Kulu Mastermind is a key card as it makes the Noa The Just way more powerful as it gets 3 Melee attack and can charge from 2nd place. The Merdaali Guardian
also is a key card as it provides heal and also gets Melee attack in 4th place which can come in handy in case the opponent plays no sneak. Finally the Deeplurker is another really powerful card as it gives the deck double Opportunity attack with trample while the opponent is hit with the rust ability. These cards combined cost 37 Mana and can be used often times with some room left for 1 more card depending on the Mana that is left. In wort casy you play the Torrent Fiend as a zero mana cost card.
Battle Examples!
Here are some of the latest matches I played with this deck setup
Out if the 4 latest battles, there was only 1 loss as it wasn't able to stand up to one of the bloodlust gladius cards. Otherwise it always held up rather well which tends to be the trend with this affordable deck. Aside from the Possibilus Summoner, there are no fancy cards as most of them are just reward cards or cheap Chaos Legion Cards. I'm sure there are ways to improve on this concept with more recent or more expensive cards but this is what I have available and what I'm doing it with as I have no intentions to buy more cards for my alt account.
This said, I really like that they finally after 7 years updated the battle background which I always felt looked way too cheap like a simple flash game. The new one while not being perfect looks a whole lot better!
