I was determined to write about my ideas at a later point in time after I arrive back home from Croatia. In fact I am wondering if it is worth mentioning them at all. But if something keeps on being on my mind and it makes me squirm mentally then I know it is the right time to let words flow through the fingers and let my feelings out.
As I was attending this year's Hivefest in Croatia, I absorbed with great interest all of the presentations realising that everyone had a different perspective on the same topic: how to make Hive known to the people. I believe there is power in being open to other's different perspective so that you could have the tools to build your own tridimensional model of the issue at hand. You want diversity and collaboration because no great success was ever build by the one who knows it all.
Bringing Hive to the top has made me consider various ideas that appeared in my imagination.
A blockchain for the people.
How is this for a marketing campaign?
This slogan is so simple yet it is what we need. We need to make it simple, accessible and fast. We need to meet people at their level and show them possibilities.
I dare you to embark on a crazy imagination exercise with me: let's imagine that one of us, from hive.blog, becomes famous and he/she is standing on Oprah's couch on national television. Oprah wants to onboard on Hive. Live. Now. Let's onboard Oprah in less than five minutes and show her that her words on a screen are worth some money. Literally.
Now let's go even further. Let's imagine that after making her first post Oprah can go and literally show to her live audience how she uses her initial earning to use a discount coupon on distriator. Bam. Just like that.
Let me tell you that having the Hive conferences in the Diocletian palace made me realize one thing: the big crowds of people passing us by and not having an idea about Hive. Let's make an imagination exercise again: place a simple QR code banner at the entry. Make the people scan it. That code will lead them to a simple platform where they can onboard and have the
tag introduceyourself automatically associated with their account so their post gets automatic minimum vote in order to see some cash adding up. Make those cents count somewhere in their town and suddenly crypto becomes palpable. I have got this inspiration surge from seing the witty presentation of VSC project by @vaultec. When people can see something in action happening in less than 5 minutes they will be intrigued, curious and wanting to see more.
When I came to the Diocletian's Palace I was imagining as I was walking on the streets a fantasy matrix where all of the people driving their cars and walking on the streets would have their own hive username on top , forming a huge web of intertwined activity and becoming like electrons in a perpetuum movement we call life. Will blockchain ever become something so common? Will John Doe wake up and post a snapshot of his coffee on the chain as if it is the only normal and logical thing to do as the use of the classical post-for-nothing social media platforms is a thing of the past?
I think that making a simple platform which is qr accessible like hive.blog/onboarding would be a challenge deemed to be put in practice in under 5 minutes. It would be an interesting way of seing how much of the process can be simplified as in to attract the simple person walking on the street who has a short attention span. Maybe peakd, ecency and other platforms could implement the same strategy.
I am not a developer and I am far on being a connaisseur in the matters of the crypto. But at my first amazing Hivefest I noticed what truly matters: simplicity, practicality, vulnerability, collaboration, empathy and a great attitude. What we see around us as being now the norm has began as a simple idea in the service of the people. Serve the people and your product will be as known as Coca Cola is in the jungles of a-town-whose-name-I-do-not-know. How can I make this better for the people ? This is the million dollar question that every marketing genius tries to cater to every single day, regardless if their intentions are "pure" or not.
I have met amazing people at Hivefest. For a moment I forgot about my own issues and troubles and immersed myself in the novelty of it all. I do not know when Oprah will want to get onboarded but I am pretty sure that by the time we get to her we first have to get to the people. Just like all of you that I have met got to me through my heart. Even with the blockchain technology you can't avoid the only marketing that will ever work: the one that makes you go straight to the heart.A blockchain for the people....
