The only way to grow is to challenge yourself beyond your current limits.
I’m Utibeima and I’m a Nigerian. My name may be hard to pronounce, so you can simple call me Yhutee(UT).
I spend most of my time crocheting, a skill I learnt a year and 8 months ago from @doreenarch and since then I’ve loved it.
Learning how to crochet has been a worthwhile experience which has blossomed to an unexplainable love for the craft and a healthy and beautiful relationship with my teacher.
Learning new patterns, either simple or tough under my teacher has always been an experience. I’ll never forget when I was learning how to make squares. Woman legit didn’t let me learn any other thing till I got the pattern right about 4 days after 😭 I cried a whole lot
Learning under her has been fun and exciting over the past year.
A month after learning and telling people around me that I’ve learnt a new skill, I got my first order!!!! I was so excited! From my first order, to more orders as people were pleased with how neat and beautiful my pieces were either custom made or picked out designs. It gave me so much joy to know that people trust my ability, love what I do and constantly trust me to create beautiful pieces for them.
Asides crocheting, I scribble down contents for sexual and reproductive health.
Oops!! I didn’t mention this part, i work as a social media advocate for sexual and reproductive health with an organization where we basically talk about sexual and reproductive health issues, how to solve and prevent them. I’ve worked with organisations such as Clinton Health Access Initiative, Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative, Education as A Vaccine etc.
It’s been something I’ve loved doing since I was young and I’ll say thanks to my passion and my mum for that because she’s a healthcare professional.
Most of the things I do in a day depends on my mood and the environment. Sometimes, I can crochet, work on sexual and reproductive health contents, see a movie or most importantly sleep.
When you are in your place, you are in your peace. This is something I believe greatly because being a sexual and reproductive health advocate has given me great peace. I feel so relaxed whenever I go to schools to speak to young kids, adolescents, and young people and I believe that that’s what I’m purposed to do.
I randomly have superb ideas and they’re mostly health related. I’ll say it’s that way because that’s where my heart it. The ideas end up being very wonderful when they are executed. Like my boss, Doreen would say “ideas are better implemented and carried out by whom the idea was given to originally”.
Some times I’m lazy. Who is a human being without feeling lazy once in a while. Whenever I feel lazy, I just know that I’m tired and I need to rest for a very long time before I feel fully recharged for work or most times it’s hunger 😭😂 and a pretty girl just has to eat.
