Think Rewards Cards were Falling Fast? Check Out Chaos Legion Cards with Recharge Ability.
The same market that is enabling ecosystem participants to feast on Rare Rewards Cards (presently at 3 cents per BCX) and Epic Rewards Cards (presently under 20 cents per BCX) has another glaring devaluation. Chaos Legion introduced cards with the Recharge and Scattershot abilities, it was supposed to be a gamechanger and it turned into a massive dud with the playing audience.
Not the Temporal Master of their own Domain
Who would have imagined that a Gold Foil Temporal Master would be similarly priced to an in-print Gold Foil Epic card? However, this is the market at work giving disapproval to a card that would be a challenging pull for those opening up packs. A Gold Foil Epic card would be a cause for a relatively positive response, but the Temporal Master's utility and market value are clearly limited and weak - even in Gold Foil form.
Source of Temporal Master Gold Foil Price
There are presently 1,670 Temporal Master Gold Foil cards in circulation and it sells for $9.75 for the lowest priced card and $7.30 per BCX. For the past three days, this card has not been purchased. The seller @conan123 is clearly trying to give away a maxed out copy of this card for $73. Good luck because this card like other cards with the same ability are being devastated.
There are 5,316 Gold Foil Djinn Renova cards in circulation. Logically, these cards would be at least 3 times cheaper than the Temporal Master due to rarity. However, Djinn Renova in Gold Foil form sells for $8 per card.
To contrast with a fellow Gold Foil card from the same edition and rarity level, Prismologist, it is a shocking difference. Prismologist sells for $18.15 per card/BCX.
Pulling the Plug on Recharge
From the Top 12 cheapest Chaos Legion cards on the secondary market, 7 have the Recharge ability.

The only card not represented in the Top 12 is Uriel the Purifier. This is mainly due to the fact that Uriel the Purifier gains the Healing ability at Level 2. This incentivizes ecosystem participants to get this card leveled up immediately. There's little to no value that this card offers at Level 1.
However, Ifrit Rising has Recharge and a Legendary distinction, but the Gold Foil version of the card that has a circulation of 694 is only $50. It is as nearly the price of a Gold Foil Harklaw and less expensive than a Gold Foil Djinn Oshannus.
Zyvax Vuul has the same problem and situation. However, it has a circulation of 754 in Gold Foil form and sells for $57.50.
Rewards Cards are not supposed to have more value than their comparable counterparts that are to be purchased from a pack. However, this is actually happening in the Gold Foil market as Djinn Oshannus is doing as participants are still valuing Harklaw on Ifrit Rising's level.
Silvershield Assassin, a Rare Rewards Card, is out-of-print and the Gold Foil version of this card has a circulation of 922. It carries a value of $69.99.
This is the Gold Foil Price History of Sea Monster. It will eventually be more expensive on a per card basis than Zyvax Vuul and Ifrit Rising. This is a Gold Foil Common Rewards card that is out-of-print.
Collection Power vs. Utility will be an on-going debate. Collection Power's role in Splinterlands will fade as the SPS Airdrop's conclusion will make it far less relevant as the only purposes it serves are:
- Burning for DEC.
- Interlevel and Intralevel designations.
In the meantime, sellers of the cards with Recharge ability are in this present state.
