The Land Expropriation Act without Compensation was voted into law the other day and rightly so this is now being challenged. Taking land away from a land owner and not compensating them is theft in anyone's book and we saw what happened with Zimbabwe. The country was once known as the bread basket of Africa and it soon became a country that could not provide enough food for it's people and South Africa if it went down this path would not be any different. I do not see it happening, but it could under a different government and it is now a law which makes it legal and why it is important to get this removed.
Trump stating there will be no more aid for SA is good news and the begging mentality needs to come to an end. The $400 million SA receive for health purposes like AIDS is only the tip as we know SA receives another $650 million plus in military funding. There is other unknowns via USAID which I mentioned about a pot hole "charity" fund that made no sense. Wat benefit is that to the USA and how many other charity funds are floating around that are kept quiet as there must be many.
Ministers have stated they would hold back mineral exports so they would actually lose out twice. Why would holding back aid bring about so much panic as we all know the aid is not reaching where it should and certain ministers rely on this funding. This is the problem with aid as after a while it is just expected as another source of revenue and devalues the gift from another country. This is tax payers money and instead of saying how grateful they have been they threaten in return.
I see trouble ahead with SA economically as this brings us onto the AGOA trade deal which is worth Billions of dollars each year and makes the US SA's second biggest trading partner. From reading various articles it suggests that this would impact around 300K jobs and those could not be replaced by finding another trade partner. SA would be finished over night and there is no recovery from this and why they need to change their racist policies.
This water license has not been made a law as yet, but more worryingly it was even raised in the first place back in 2023.
I have lived first hand under both apartheid regimes and yes what we are seeing in SA today is reverse racism. I am no racist, but call it when I see it and do believe I am well qualified to spot this. The BEE or Black Economic Empowerment forced on businesses is simply wrong and is the same as having DEI laws shoved down your throat. Businesses are held back for all the wrong reasons and this impacts directly on the economy affecting everyone. This is not a level playing field even though we are talking 30 years since a black government took power. Why do kids see color today when they never experienced race hate yet they do.
Many on Twitter in the comments section state we are part of BRICS so who cares and unfortunately this is the narrative the masses have been sold. Firstly any sanctions against SA would tank the Rand immediately leaving SA vulnerable for China to swoop in and cherry pick whatever they wanted. China is SA's biggest trade partner and they would love to own the infrastructure and whatever else they could get their hands on.
I have no clue who needs 140 race laws and any form of discrimination should be illegal so in theory you only need 1. Grudges from the past do not make this acceptable.
SA has no choice, but to sit down and listen because they cannot rely on Russia or China for help. BRICS will be pushed further into the corner with a proposed 100% tariff if they do not trade in dollars so the likes of India cannot afford to play both sides anymore like they have been.
