Underdog: A Format w/o the top 500 cards
The offmeta normally resides outside of the higher ranks or outliers, but in this format the top 500 cards aren't allowed so it can flourish. Offmeta reigns supreme and unique decks can shine for a while offering great fun and fragments. This mode was quite fun to play, I got to use cards that normally have a very difficult time winning in the current ranked meta and they were fun to see get some play. The opponents also had unique decks that were interesting and shine shine shineeeeyyyyyy. That's a quick little summary of what this format in gods unchained sortof looked like and what it is, it was fun and if it comes back I will try some more janky stuff in it again.
What I played, how it went
I did mage atlants without fran or anything meta like that, but I did indulge myself and use my tried and true golden golem and aetherchest. Many players were not expecting atlants in this mode at all let alone atlants with actual viable lines with tinker tinker, future industries, and various unique bodies that either gain armor or progressively get bigger with spells etc.
You can even watch me climbing the ranks with it in the mode itself on twitch here. I had a lot of fun in this format and utilizing unique builds within, looking forward to more of it!
Talking Tidbits: The future of formats
Overall review of this format is probably a 9/10. It was fun, spiced things up and also wasn't around for too long to get stale either. Great experience and what a format sortof should be. I know many people were mad because their shiney cards were top 500 cards and unable to be used to maximize on fragments in this mode, but cmon people you could play in regular ranked if you need to use those for dp2e. This mode was a fun gameplay experience. I look forward to talks of a mode that bans the top 100 cards of each God instead of merely the top 500 across the board, that would be fun to try to. But as it stands "Underdog" imo was a successful rotating mode. The next mode is Flashback Genesis, but the format after that (Singleton) is what really piques my interest. Thanks for reading everyone, you folks all rock and thank you for the continued support. Catch you in Eucos
