About 4/5 months ago I made a post where I reviewed the state of our community and a post suggesting a possible team change.
In my last post, my suggestion was not seen with good eyes and I ended up not making contributions. However, since I love to talk about sports and that a sports community has enormous potential, I decided to review the state of our community again.
Let's start the overview...
General Numbers
After the post that stirred up the waters a bit, we had posts in the community to hire a social manager and a community manager.
Has this helped our community?
Community Followers/Interactions/Active users
Last Review | Current state | Difference | |
---|---|---|---|
Followers | 4005 | 4195 | + 190 |
Iterations | 584 | 442 | - 142 |
Active users | 123 | 117 | - 6 |
As we can see, although we managed to have more than 190 followers, both active users and iterations decreased.
So we can conclude that we were not able to retain users in our community and make people interact with each other.
Social Media (Twitter)
In terms of Twitter, we noticed that there are a few more publications, but even so, the profile still has only 433 followers.
However, the engagement with these tweets is very little or practically nil and the tweets that we see, besides being about the contests, we don't even take advantage of, but sharing the post that @cryptoandcoffee is making showing quality posts in the community.
Discord
In terms of Discord, we can say that it is a ghost channel, since nobody talks about anything there, nor is it sunny or rainy.
Financially
SPORTS Token
In terms of price, Sports is or should be at one of the lowest values ever, 0.00000779 Hive.
Honestly, why is this happening?
Because at the moment there is no incentive for people to continue to buy or hold their tokens, and I don't think this is going to change because the only case is curation.
Hive Power
Currently, after @patrickulrich has separated his private funds from the community related accounts, we are able to know exactly what the community assets are.
I'm in favor of him doing this because that way anyone who wants to analyze the community's assets has the real information.
@sportstalksocial | @sports-gov | Total | |
---|---|---|---|
HP | 33.421 | 8 229.565 | 8 262.986 |
HBD | 2.826 | 74.067 | 76.893 |
Of the 8 229,565HP from the sportstalksocial account, 5 160 HP are delegated to the @actifit.rewards account.
When I spoke about this in the past, it was said that this was an agreement between our community and actifit for the distribution of SPORTS.
Well, if I'm not wrong this must have been done over 3 years ago, and it seems to me that we're already giving funds to other communities that don't give us anything against it.
How come you don't give us anything?
One of the questions I raised was whether @actifit.rewards curated certain posts in our community.
At the time, I didn't remember to analyze this, but now I have concrete data about this.
Anyone who wants can do the same analysis using hivebuzz data looking to the Curation Author Rewards table.
I analyzed 143 random posts out of over 1000 posts, and the numbers I came up with were as follows:
Actifit Community | SportsTalk Community | |
---|---|---|
Curated Posts | 143 | 0 |
As we can see, that account does not curate any posts from our community, in addition to having our funds to curate posts without the minimum of quality.
In addition to receiving votes from our delegation, they also win SPORTS, so I can't understand how this is advantageous for our community.
Hive Engine
And in relation to the assets that we have in HE, what are they?

As we can see that our community has some assets in HE, even though they are nothing out of this world, they could generate a liability and this could be used to buyback SPORTS or power up sportstalksocial.
Conclusion
In my opinion, there is still room for the community to improve both in terms of presence on the web2 to try to attract more people, and to make some changes in relation to our assets that could help burn more SPORTS and, at the same time, also increase the main account's HP.
However, it seems to me that this may not be done as quickly as it would be necessary because it is necessary to create the DAO and as of the 16 455 holders only 116 are active in the community and something I understood was that nobody wants to stop “being decentralized” in favor of a greater good that is to try to fix the community before it dies.
Are we going to let the community “die” and then say we got 3 years of SPORTS distribution, or are we going to try to do something to change the situation?
