If you've ever seen me draw, you'd know I'm far from being an artist 🤣 Honestly, I can't help but laugh at my own artworks because it isn't exactly my strong suit.
I've mentioned before, whenever I present my so-called artworks to my friends and family, all I see are puzzled expressions 😆 My artworks are the ones that you wouldn't even guess right in Gartic, even if you had all the hints 🤣
When I was younger, my mom gave me a piece of advice that has stuck with me throughout my life. It was when I received a grade of 90 (my lowest at that time) despite being the rank 2 in our class. She told me that when I struggle with something, I should focus on it more than my favorite subjects. I've carried that with me ever since.
So, one day, it occurred to me: why not explore this artistic side of mine and dedicate some time to it? After all, my motto is to try everything and strive to be good at everything I do.
I had to admit that I wasn't even sure if I have this artistic side within me, but I'll try anyway!
So, I turned to my youngest sister, who happens to be quite the artistic one. She spends her free time honing her skills, trading artworks with her friends online.
I was even thrilled when she agreed to teach me, despite knowing how terrible I am when it comes to this 😆 She suggested I install the Ibis Paint app, and assured me that it would be beginner-friendly for someone like me. I'm not sure what she meant by that but whatever, I trust her judgment, especially since whenever I watch her create art, it seems like it's sooo easy!
She was on a call with her art buddies, so I patiently waited for her to finish before she teach me the basics. It's not just about learning, it's also our way of bonding.
While waiting, I decided to open the Ibis Paint app and explore it on my own. I started with a blank canvas.
But then, I found myself wondering, What do I even do next?
I began experimenting with different brushes, one color at a time. Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing, but I continued anyway.
Then, I tried the felt tip pen, I'm pretty sure it's the hard one, and tried doodling faces on the color swatches I created.
What was going through my mind when I created those faces? Lol.
I didn't stop at just one. I kept going, one quirky face after another. Then, I took a look at my so-called artwork. Who would've been thrilled to see this? 😆 No one! But hey, I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment for giving this a shot.
As of this writing, I'm examining those quirky doodles I created. Are the reactions the same as how I created them? Because those faces don't look impressed! HAHAHAHA
My sister ended her call with her art friends, so it's finally time for me to learn how to navigate this app properly (I also watch tutorial vids!).
I'll be sharing my progress here (if there's any lol) even if it's as small as a pea!
Until next time! ✨
Have you ever tried something way out of your comfort zone? Whether it's art or something different, tell me about it!
