There are all manners of personalities in the world! I suppose that goes without saying — some folks are super active and energetic, others — like cats — are more leisurely.
The leisurely cat
And then there are those who seem to always feel inspired and "up and at 'em" no matter when and where. For them, it's not just about having a lot of energy, it's also about having a very high motivation level. I suppose you could almost think of them as "life's cheerleaders."
Now that I am embarking on this "savings program," I'm looking for ways to stay inspired, particularly since we're looking at a 19-month long endeavor, here!
Perhaps I don't have a high energy level, nor a high motivational level, but persistence is a basic "something" can relate to. Often, that can be the key to success: "Showing up" every day, even when the last thing you want to do is show up!
Long term goals are often the most difficult to attain because we reach a "breaking point" at some time... when we just don't feel inspired to keep going, anymore.
The Task at Hand:
So, now I have set this goal of saving up 1,000 HBD by the end of 2025!
As I write these words — on the afternoon of May 22nd, 2024 — my HBD savings balance is just 7.879 HBD, meaning that I am 992.121 HBD from my goal. Wow! That's a long way to go.
But I will be persistent.
For the moment, I'm just going to pay attention to the immediate goal of getting to 300 HBD in savings by the end of 2024.
The "tools" I have at my disposal are quality and meaningful blogging, followed by meaningful engagement with the community, and finally a minimal degree of crypto investing.
Strictly speaking, we could also add the proceeds from any "attic junk" we might be able to sell on eBay. Goodness know, we have no shortage of attic junk...
As I thought this whole thing through, I realized how easy it is for us to talk ourselves out of setting ambitious goals.
I have historically taken the easier route of setting goals that were highly likely to succeed, without too much effort. This one is definitely not one of those!
Of course, with a goal based on accumulating HBD, there's no great harm in falling short... I'll still have something to show for my efforts.
Now I need to go read the various #saturdaysavers posts and figure out the process for formally becoming part of the group!
Thanks for coming to visit, and do leave a comment if you feel so inclined!
