Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities.
Lately, the Dad-Hooman and I have been considering the value of advancing towards a goal in very tiny increments. Originally, we were going to create a formal "goals" post for 2024 but we sort of gave up on that idea. Cats are just not that ambitious!
Different Approaches!
Our world of Hive has a very broad range of users, from serious investors to those who are just dabbling in a few blog posts here and there. As a common thread — at least for most of us — we're all trying to earn a little bit of crypto and perhaps build a little bit of a portfolio/savings account.
Many of us don't actually have any disposable money to invest so our ability to build something hinges entirely on what we can earn in rewards from our posts and other activities within the community.
It's tempting to look at what we're doing and say "well, I'm never going to get anywhere because the increments we earn from our efforts are so tiny!"
Taken in isolation, perhaps that is true. But, for example, I'm coming up on my 6th anniversary here in the community and we've just been quietly and steadily building since day one.
Whereas Curator Cat does actually "have skin in the game" — so to speak — it's only the $50 we originally put in in order to buy a little bit of Hive power for the early days of the account. Everything else is what we have earned through cat photos and comments and curation.
Tiny Diversities
But my interest haven't been limited to purely building HivePower. We've also dabbled a little bit in some of Hive's many Layer Two tokens, and I am building a very small stake in some of our more popular games, including Splinterlands, Genesis League Sports and now the latest — and very promising — arrival HoloZing.
Of course I'm never going to be on any "richlist," but at the same time supporting our various projects in a very small or modest way also has its value. And I would like to think that if we continue to add our few cents' worth here and there it will amount to quite a bit if we're still doing this in another 5-10 years from now.
The Value of Perseverance!
And that's the beauty of persistence and being willing to stay with something in the very long run.
Of course, you have to be very discerning about "which horse you're going to back," because there are an awful lot of "duds" out there so you have to be aware that some you get into may amount to nothing at all. And then there might some you just support for old times' sake.
For example, Curator Cat continues to hold a little over 12,000 of @fraenk's CAT (Cat Appreciation Token) which may or may not ever become much of anything. But still we hang on to them because it supports cat content on Hive.
My very small Splinterlands stake stems from having been gifted a few starter packs in the very early running on the old chain. In time, I decided that we were never going to have time to actually play the game, so we sold the cards on the open market and bought and staked SPS tokens with the proceeds instead and those have slowly been building ever since.
We're also hopeful that Genesis League Sports will become something although that particular investment has been pretty modest so far. On the other hand all we have at risk there is some airdrops and other bits bought along the way.
Last, but certainly not least, I've gotten interested lately in acidyo's new HoloZing game which seems like it has a lot of potential and might become something almost as significant as Splinterlands if given a little time. Regardless, the game art is awesome and that's a great starting point.
I'm never going to be an active trader and actually have no interest in it. I'm just interested in picking a few things that I think represents something I can believe in on one paw, and also something that helps make Hive a more successful environment.
And I'm grateful that the world of crypto allows us to be participants on a very small scale and who knows... that small scale may eventually become something more significant. And if not? At least we're having fun!
We appreciate you coming to visit our little blog, and hope to see you again in the near future!

Love Cats? Get Involved in Hive's Cat Communties!
If you're a cat lover and often/sometimes post pictures or other content that includes your feline friends, why not become an active part of Hive's growing Cat Communities?
These are some of the more active Cat Communities — why not join them ALL? Many of the allow you to share your cat posts, even if you started at a different community!
HiveCats by @curatorcat is a central "gathering place" for cat content on Hive; promoting the use of the #hivecats tag for feline content!
Cat Snaps by @manorvillemike is a place to post pictures of your cats when you don't have a whole lot to say beyond just sharing your cute photos!
Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!
Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!
Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.
There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
