Only Mine

For a movie that could be considered a classic Netflix production, I can't say it's a success or a failure. The most important reason for this is that there are elements of the movie that I found strong as well as elements that I found bad.

The fact that the story is inspired by real life is of course a great advantage, but in such productions, the way the characters reflect their emotions becomes very important.

Only Mine, as a thriller inspired by real life, has a very remarkable story.

I can't say that the way the story is handled is inadequate. However, the poor performances of the actors who bring the characters to life reduce the momentum of the movie and do not contribute anything to the viewing pleasure.

Using the difficulties of a young woman in a toxic relationship as the main theme, the production progresses in a very intimate atmosphere, but due to the inability to use the tension in the story, it cannot provide enough fluency and boring moments begin after a while.

A young woman named Julie Dillon (played by Amber Midthunder) is at the center of the story. The movie is about her real-life relationship difficulties.

Full of teachings about domestic violence and relationship dynamics in private life, I can say that the production emphasizes psychological and physical violence against women. Of course, everyone has the right to self-defense, but it is important to remember that revenge attacks depict the other side of violence.

The part of the story that I found most interesting was that the man who perpetrated the psychological and physical violence was a policeman. It was strange to watch someone who exhibits behaviors contrary to the duties he is obliged to perform every day.

Amber Midthunder, who gives life to the character of Julie, was the strongest aspect of the movie with a very successful performance in terms of making you feel fear and determination.

The character, whose personality and the way she struggles with the situation changes in an instant after the obsessive, controlling and jealous behavior of the person she brought into her life is revealed, portrays in an extraordinary way what circumstances can do to a person.

Anyway, those who are already thinking of seeing the movie should not expect too much from it, beyond saying that it is based on a real-life story and his strong acting.

Throughout the movie, we repeatedly see the feeling of being stuck in a relationship and the struggle for self-preservation. The fact that the story takes place in a small area and everyone knows each other is presented as a disadvantage, but I don't think the arguments in the presentation are valid in real life.

It's more like it was used as an excuse and spoiled the story.

I don't want to be too harsh, but in general, the movie promises nothing except the fact that it is based on real life and the success of Julie's character.

Most of the plot points are quite clichéd and there is no character development. The plot progresses in a predictable way and every time the prediction comes true.

The inadequacy of the characters other than Julie and their inability to add additional elements to the movie makes the story superficial. At the beginning you see signs that the movie is in the thriller genre, but as the story progresses, you don't see the actions that would increase the tension.

The plot, which is quite banal, is a man's violence against a woman and the woman's attempt for revenge afterwards.

I don't want to make a recommendation to watch the movie or not. For me, this will remain one of Netflix's classic movies. Sometimes I think they make this kind of TV movie just to fill the hours.

Thank you for being here and reading. Take care and goodbye!

Hmmm, I think I can understand where you're coming from. Like the fact that it is based on a true story being the only thing that keeps it going and nothing else. Nicely done, as always. I enjoyed reading.🌺

Thank you, these words are encouraging

I just watched the trailer. I don't know, it seems mid in a way. And I mean no offense but anyways, nice review by the way.

You are right about being in the middle, it is a production that promises something but doesn't deliver much. Thank you very much.
