In 2018, I found myself struggling with feelings of depression, and during that difficult time, I discovered a song that truly resonated with me. It was "Kid in a Candy Store" by Jojo Siwa, and when I heard it on the radio, I felt elated!!.
The lines “Bubble gum, Gumdrop, Drop it like a lollipop, Never let the craving stop…” became a beacon of light for me. They reminded me to embrace life’s little pleasures, especially my love for sweets. The song gave me a sense of meaning and uplifted my spirits whenever I felt down.
Inspired by its joyful message, I decided to create a cute candy basket for myself as a way to celebrate those sweet moments in life.
I got my materials which included:
•Two cardboard sheets (blue and white colours)
•Glue
•Pencil
•Meter rule
•Scissors
I proceeded to measure the blue cardboard: 2 by 24cm each for 8 strips
I cut out the strips and I also measured the white cardboard: 2 by 34cm for 2 strips
I cut it out also and then I proceeded to intertwine the blue strips to look like a mat.
I then proceeded to glue the openings to give it a firm grip.
Then I used my meter rule to straighten up the ends of the mat, to give it a box look.
I then folded the white strips to fit the corner of the box.
I glued the end of the white strips to give it a perfect shape.
I inserted it and intertwined it with the blue strips skipping one strip after another.
After successfully fixing it. I glued the ends of the blue strip to give it a perfect look.
And here we have my cute candy basket. Now I don't have to wonder if I've got any candy remaining in my bag. I just have to look into my basket and voila!!
