Today was the end of the season in Splinterlands and after a few years away from the game I finished my first season since I returned to play, my earnings were 37,540 Glint.
I still prefer the old Splinterlands where we won chests at the end of the season and had all that happiness of opening them to win tradable cards, SPS or even get a jackpot. In the current scenario the only cards we win are Soulbounds and to make them tradable you need to pay 20x the value of your CP in DEC and for me that is a very high amount to pay for a card that you can get for free. The good news is that it is still possible to win jackpots in chests, although the chances are extremely low and I highly doubt that I will be able to see one any time soon.
With my earnings from this season I decided to spend it all on Loot Chests, to be more specific I'm going to spend it all on Major Chests, each one costs 1000 Glint and I currently have 44,080 Glint so I'll be able to open 44 Major Chests.
The reason I chose Loot Chests and not Rarity Draws is because I want to feel the thrill of opening chests in Splinterlands again even if I don't get anything tradable inside them, except for the jackpot but my expectations of winning one are low since each Major Chest only has a 0.01% chance of containing a jackpot, but hope dies last so let's see if today is my lucky day.
As I expected, no jackpot. But I got a lot of cards and they will be very useful for me to increase my collection and give more variety to my strategies. I also got some energy and it will be useful for me to earn more SPS and Glint. So even though the old Splinterlands is still better, the current one is not bad and although we can't get tradable cards in the chests, they are still useful for us to use in battles and build a small deck without spending anything. In addition, we also get extra energy to earn more SPS by battling more times in the season and we have a chance to win a jackpot, even if the chance is low.
Another detail that I liked is that Splinterlands changes the theme of the chests according to the festivities and I loved the art of these Christmas chests, it makes me get more and more into the Christmas spirit and the temporary Skins are also very cool.
