Put your community before yourself 🫵
There are a number of reasons why community success may be considered more important than personal accomplishments:
Community success can lead to a greater impact: When a community works together towards a common goal, the results can be more significant and have a greater impact than individual efforts. This can be especially true for issues or challenges that affect a large group of people, such as improving access to education or giving everyone a livable income.
Community success promotes collaboration and cooperation: When people work together towards a common goal, they often learn from each other, share resources, and support each other. This can help foster a sense of community and build stronger relationships.
Community success can lead to personal fulfillment: Many people find that they are more fulfilled and satisfied when they are able to contribute to the well-being of others. When people work together to achieve success as a community, it can provide a sense of purpose and meaning that goes beyond personal accomplishment.
Of course, personal accomplishments are also important and can bring a sense of pride and accomplishment. However, in most cases, the benefits of community success may outweigh the importance of personal accomplishments.
Hive is a perfect example of this in action. Your personal growth means nothing if you do not have a community to elevate with you. One of the most significant benefits of Hive is the ability to closely interact with and even reward your community. A community is able to help you and you can assist them in return. This is an equal energy transfer and one that is required to keep things balanced.
Every community is different. Don't let what happens to one affect how you envision your community will function. For each community, it is important to grow organically as one, so as to not leave any major holes in its strength further down the road. Trying to control every little thing that happens is likely to apply too much pressure and eventually push some away.
Comparing Web2 communities versus a true Web3 community on Hive isn't going to result in a mirrored reflection. Sure, you can get more reach and earn a larger income on websites like Instagram or YouTube, but there aren't really any ways to give back to your community outside of hosting a giveaway. It may also be nearly impossible to keep up with everything your community has to say to you.
The biggest issue with Web2 is the fact that there are so many rules which can restrict how your community interacts with one another. If you choose to plant your community on Hive, you all will be free to grow naturally together without fear of being dissolved overnight due to breaking some community guidelines.
Remember this the next time you think of putting your own personal gain in front of the success of your community as a whole. It's most likely not going to be worth it and you would be better off just staying transparent and including all of the people who care about you in on your plans.
Thanks to the community on Hive for showing up constantly to help others!
