This is a Lego lover's dream come true 🏁🏎️
Lego 2K Drive was released not too long ago on May 16, 2023. I was aware of the game at the time but completely ignored it because I just assumed it would be another arcade racer clone trying to be like Mario Kart. I was totally wrong though.
I recently discovered that there is a free 2-hour trial for Lego 2K Drive on the PlayStation Store. I saw this as my first opportunity to give this game a shot. Still, though, I did not have much faith in the game.
Pretty much as soon as I was dropped into the Lego world, I understood that this game had a lot more to offer than I had first thought. Firstly, it is open-world and has multiple different Lego worlds to explore. Secondly, your vehicles switch on the fly depending on what terrain you are driving on, road/dirt/water. This is similar to The Crew, but it works a lot more seamlessly in Lego 2K Drive. Then of course there is the driving, which to me feels like a cross between Mario Kart and an arcade racer like NFS.
On top of a solid experience gameplay-wise, perhaps the most important thing is the creation aspect of the game. There is an entire Lego vehicle building suite in this game. That means you can piece by piece build anything that you imagine. If you don't feel like doing that, you can also download the builds of other users and use them in your world without having to pay microtransactions or wait until you are at a certain level. It's pretty great and I think anyone who enjoys Lego stuff will be obsessed with this game simply for the creative options.
In today's video, I wanted to show you my true first impressions of Lego 2K Drive. You will hear the surprise in my voice, as I was actually having a ton of fun playing this game casually. It also has competitive multiplayer, but I haven't even had time to try it yet.
If this is your first time hearing about Lego 2K Drive, then I am going to gamble that you too are pleasantly surprised by this cool little racing game. It brings me back to the year 1999 when I first played Lego Racers on N64 at a friend's house. I loved that game so much and Lego 2K Drive is that game on steroids and looks absolutely gorgeous too.
Thanks for watching and be sure to drop any comments you may have down below, I will get back to everyone.
