A better way to exchange HIVE/HBD 🔃

The days of relying on https://wallet.hive.blog/market as the best place to swap our beloved HIVE and HBD are finally over. It will still remain and function as it has been, but we now have a new option.

wallet.png

If you use PeakD as your main Hive front end, you may have realized that your wallet has changed slightly. We've always had the ability to select the market on our HIVE or HBD holdings, but now that link takes you someplace new. You will find yourself on https://hivehub.dev/market instead of the old internal market.

update announcement.jpg
Shoutout to @asgarth for being one of the hardest-working devs I've ever known!

In the past, I made a video tutorial explaining how to make buy/sell orders on the old internal market. That information is still valid, but at last, you do not have to go through as many steps to get the desired outcome. As unappealing as it was, the original Hive internal market worked fine. Fine isn't what we need to welcome a greater amount of users than we currently have.

old market.png

People thrive when things are simplified. Even some crypto pioneers prefer the usability of websites such as https://stealthex.io/, https://simpleswap.io/, and https://blocktrades.us/en/trade. Those quick exchanges will still be a wonderful option for swapping HIVE for BTC, but many will prefer to trade HIVE against HBD, seeing as it has remained quite stable for some time now. This is why https://hivehub.dev/market is an absolute upgrade over https://wallet.hive.blog/market.

new market.png

Just look how much more attractive and easy this new internal market is. You simply input the amount of HIVE or HBD you wish to trade and then select swap. There are a few other various settings that can be tweaked, but most people will just jump in and be able to do what they want to do with just a few clicks of a button.

signin.png

As you may have guessed, the sign-in process is also easily understood. You can log in with https://hive-keychain.com/ on desktop or mobile. If you do not have an account, there are links to visit https://signup.hive.io/, https://peakd.com/register, and https://ecency.com/signup.

One of the things that I love so much about PeakD is the fact that they are not self-centered. Their team truly believes in community and is more than happy to support other projects on their front end. They know that everyone has different tastes and some people for instance may prefer https://ecency.com/ over https://peakd.com/. Plus it may not just be one app that makes Hive go mainstream, but more than likely a collection of useful apps working together - much like an actual bee hive.

Peak Open Projects Team.png

The new internal market feature is live in your @peakd wallet now and we have @peak.open and the Peak Open Projects team to thank for that. Each one of these team members contributes towards making it possible for amazing updates like this one to happen.

So a major shoutout to...

@yozen
@mirafun
@mozzie5
@jarvie
@asgarth
@igormuba

Be sure to join the PeakD Projects Discord to stay up to date on all of the latest information. This is also the easiest way to submit bug reports, which are extremely helpful to the dev team. Who knows, maybe your next great idea for PeakD will be turned into a new feature. I've seen it happen many times before.

Thanks for reading today 🙏

If you have any questions about how to use this new feature, drop a comment and ask. I or another community member will be more than happy to assist.

Hottt dayummmm exactly what I was looking for.

I suppose I should just open me eyes next time 😂 I knew igormuba was working on something but I've forgotten to follow up on that 😂

It's ideal that we finally have easy access to the most simple way to trade HIVE/HBD. I thought we may get stuck with the original internal market for an eternity. I'm glad that's not the case.

Yay. I just used it. So nice.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy, it's like PancakeHIVE, love it. I somehow missed the update and never noticed the feature, but I gave the site a visit, super simple but much-needed, bookmarked.

It’s really nice that this is so easy to access form the PeakD wallet.

This is actually a great improvement!! that webste was getting old but usefull... something i realized that was need in there was a candle chart to see price movement...

something i like from that market is that one can trade with zero fees.

It looks like candles will be coming, see this comment from one of the devs.

I love every part of it and thanks sharing.

as long as the change from #Hive - #HBD and vice versa is made in the internal market, it will be easier as well as safer for all of us

What an interesting summarization of how the new internal market looks like. Gotta check it out.

It's going to be a surprise to some, but many knew something like this had to be coming eventually. It will especially be nice for people who are first getting started on Hive. It's one less confusing thing that they have to deal with now.

That's cool. Do you have a clue on how to go about those percentage below the option? I see yours is placed at 0.5%.

The percentages below compensate for liquidity. When the market is less liquid you may need to increase the slippage, when the market is very liquid I can get orders with only 0.1% slippage. The default 0.5% should work just fine at the current environment.

When the market is less liquid

How can I know that the market is less or more liquid... in order to select the best slippage in each case?

The simplest way is to try to swap. If it fails it means there is no liquidity and slippage has to be increased. Lots of times the market is liquid enough for me to swap at 0.1% but sometimes at 0.1% it fails to me

All clear. Thanks 👍

good option to exchange our favorite tokens and without leaving #Hive

Oh brilliant stuff. That looks so sleek and neat and much more user friendly. I'm keen to give it a try asap. Well done to everyone involved but I must agree, the PeakD team do really excellent work, it's my absolute favourite front end.

It's just want the doctor ordered. Literally exactly what we needed. I agree that PeakD is doing many great things for us.

So great, I didn't see this before buying $HIVE today, I will try in next time. However, I'm seeing too much people crying about the $HIVE falls today in the Cuban telegram Hive community. I have seen this before when $HIVE falls below the $1. It's just circumstantial.

Great article as always bro.

Sure is a nice price to be able to pick up some HIVE. I'm ignoring how terrible it feels to see crypto drop even further. I still believe that it's inevitable that things will explode to crazy highs again eventually. No telling when though.

Ahhhhh 😉😎🙏🙏

so that what that is. I opened and closed it a few times from my wallet as I was swapping some HBD, but went instead to the old hive market. I'll take some further looks at this new one, but as long as the old one works.. I always tend to prefer the more windows XP look compared to bright colors and curvy windows that try to 'simplify' everything..

It may take some getting used to, but this will be a lot easier for most people in the long run.

yup 😎😉🤙 i does make it easier to see, especially for the small HIVE/HBD swaps..

No chance that I will use it. The internal market gives opportunities for strategical or tactical trading. Here we have nothing. Just buy or die. That's not for me. 🤢

There are more features coming to this soon. See this comment from one of the devs for a preview.

While it's important to make clear that it's not a 'real' AMM, it is certainly a much more user-friendly interface for the order book.

I've been using it and love it!

This is what the average new user will need, simplicity.

That´s great bro! Nice interface and even more simple than the previous market.

Es muy bueno 😉

The UI is really intuitive and simple to navigate. And it has some extra tweaks that one can also play around when making a swap, for example, the slippage percentage.

Is it recommended to just leave it at the default percentage or can one increase it?

I love how the UI looks.
It's up to you with the slippage. Most people will probably leave it on the default setting I assume.

The default always worked to me and I always get good deals. I tried using 0.1% sometimes but it may not go through and may be cancelled, it all depends on the liquidity at the time of the trade.

Right. Thanks for the feedback.

Will it soon be possible to also be able to log in via hivesigner? I only saw hive keychain on the dashboard.

Greatful

Good to know, as our choices keep changing.

I am consistently using polygon and Cubfinance to move money in and oput of our ecosystem over the Leo multitoken bridge.

But I also use this internal market frequently and like to hear bout improvements.

In a world where there are few Hive options, it's nice to know we have built our own and are improving them steadily.

Cheers

I have been wanting feature for sooooooo long. I literally made a post regarding post Here about some of this features. I really get too much itchy whenever I use internal market. Coz of low volume it is almost always I have to spend some time to get my orders filled. It is sometimes annoying tbh.

While bookmarked the hivedub web page. I will definitely give it use in my next conversion. While also shout out to all the people behind it. You guys have done an awesome job.

Perhaps they saw your post and that's what sprung them into action. I know many users have been championing a better internal market, so I have a feeling it has been in the works for a bit. The fact that we finally have this is pretty surreal.

Daa-umn, that does look much sleeker than the previous option.

People thrive when things are simplified

I totally agree with this. Crypto is complicated enough as it is. I'm confused and scared everytime I have to use an exchange. Making is user friendly goes a long way.

I wasn't joking when I said it was a MAJOR upgrade.

The fact that your funds still remain in your wallet for all of this and never have to go on a centralized exchange is really what makes it so special. As we are seeing more and more, leaving funds on an exchange is the absolute worst decision you can make in crypto.

Yeah that is an awesome feature indeed and so true about the issue with exchanges.

The internal has helped hive greatly and I'm help we have an upgrade version of the internal market. I will definitely use both depends on the quantity I want to buy

Internal is in my opinion one of the best ways to do swaps between HIVE/HBD.

I like the original internal market better. It is simple enough for me. Its usage is obvious. And I used to use it in the previous five years. New users probably will like the new interface better. Good that we can use both.

I have grown used to the original and may still use it occasionally. I agree that this new version will be much more accessible to new users and is a welcomed new addition.

This looks really good !

The one thing I'd love to be able to do, although I have absolutely no idea how we'd get past the centralisation issues it could cause, is to be able to just send a fiat bank transfer (preferably from GBP, simply because it's where I am) and buy HIVE or HBD directly. Or pay by debit card.

At the moment, it's a case of sending fiat to a centralised exchange, buying BTC, LTC or similar, then converting it within BlockTrades. It would be wonderful if a 3-stage process could be simplified down to a 1-step one !

Have you ever messed with https://global.transak.com/ ?
You can buy HIVE with a CC there, but still not able to sell it. However, you could always swap to something like BTC using https://stealthex.io/ and then withdraw that straight to your bank account with global.transak

I do agree though, that could be made much more simple and surely it will be in due time.

Nice post 👍

Small preview of the next page that we plan to release. Still work in progress but maybe you have feedback or suggestions:

image.png

Thank you 👏

The next page looks awesome.

The only recommendation I could think of off the top of my head is for there to be a dark mode option. As soon as I thought of that, I explored the page more and realized the feature already exists under options/settings.

Night mode is not perfect yet, but at least usable on most pages 😄

At least it is already there, so much easier on my eyes after dark.

Wow, amazing! Finally we have an internal exchange that looks like one!

Love seeing this! I saw it the other day when I went to swap some stuff and shit does it feel so much more modern than the old page lol. It served it's purpose but damn was it ancient!

I’m right there with you, glad we have a new option.
