ChatGPT Would Be So Badass With A Voice Response!
I Recently started using OpenAIs flagship product, known as ChatGPT. ChatGPT is an advanced conversational artificial intelligence (AI) computer program trained using Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF) to follow text-based instructions in a prompt and provide a detailed response.
Forget I said that.
ChatGPT is a very smart computer program that can talk to people through text-based interfaces and answer their questions. It has been trained by people who give it feedback to help it learn how to give good answers. So when someone asks a question, it can understand what they are asking and give them a really good answer.
Much better.
ChatGPT is like having a really smart friend you can talk to whenever you want as it seemingly has the best answers to your questions or worries. Asides from being a chat nerdy buddy, ChatGPT use case extends to the developers community as anyone with it's application programming interface (API) can incorporate its abilities in their stuff (products and services).
For example, some websites like BuddyGPT, WizAI, Shmooz AI amongst others, offer WhatsApp phone numbers that acts as an intermediary between ChatGPT and the WhatsApp platform. However unlike their parent application these WhatsApp ChatGPT bots have a restricted usage limit after which you need to subscribe to their unlimited plan for continued service. Below is the screenshot of my interaction with one;
There have been many responsive AIs built over the years with quite impressive capabilities. However what ChatGPT brings to the table is undoubtedly evolutionary and transformative. This AI is capable of making mistakes, capable of admitting it makes mistakes and capable of correcting those mistakes. Its unparalleled ability to answer virtually any question you ask makes it a potential rival to Google's search engine and its potential to displace many jobs cannot be overlooked.
Just think of the possibilities if ChatGPT were capable of responding to voice commands!
Am I the only one that feels an AI is not completely impressive or falls short of expectations if it cannot respond to your voice commands using its own human-like voice? I've been thinking about this idea and so far it has been a mix of excitement and apprehension. With the impressive capabilities of the ChatGPT AI program, just imagine the impact it could make if it had the ability to respond to us with a voice – it would easily be without contest the greatest technology in the world.
AIs like Apple Siri, Amazon Alexa, Microsoft Cortana and Google Assistant are some of the coolest voice responsive AIs that are mostly integrated into various devices such as smartphones, smart speakers, and even cars. However, comparing them to ChatGPT in terms of human-like responsiveness and their ability to learn and self-correct, it's objectively safe to say that ChatGPT outperforms them by a significant margin. This however does not diminish the strengths of Siri, Alexa, Cortana and Google Assistant especially considering the fact that they're made to serve specific purposes.
So How Would This Work?
I wouldn't talk about the underlying mechanisms of voice responsive AIs but I have an idea on how it can be incorporated into the existing interface of ChatGPT. In February 2023, WhatsApp announced their intention to introduce a feature that'll enable users to share status updates using voice notes. This feature has since proved to be an enjoyable and practical way of updating your WhatsApp status, and is symbolized by a microphone icon situated at the bottom end of the status upload interface.
The current user interface of ChatGPT would seamlessly accommodate a comparable design to the WhatsApp update, granting users the liberty to communicate with the program with either of its two available interaction modules which are the text-based instructions and voice-based instructions.The impact this will have on the world is indisputable. And although it might have a creepy edge to it considering the remarkable level of performance exhibited by ChatGPT, there's no denying that it will be incredibly impressive and badass!
