Hi Hive friends! It’s me Dan and I’m new to Hive and it's my first time to share a blog in Hive PH Community. I’m a Grade 8 student from Guiuan, Eastern Samar and just a few weeks ago me and my twin sister just turned 14 yrs old and so today, I'm excited to share with you all the wonderful moments from my birthday celebration.
Two days before our birthday, my sister and I decided that we wanted to spend our special day at the beach. After getting the green light from our mom, we also invited our friends to join us.
On the morning of our birthday, we woke up early to prepare the food we would bring. Once everything was ready, we headed to the market to find a bus that could take us to Sulangan Beach. After locating the right bus, we packed our things and set out on a 30 minutes drive to reach the beach.
We made our reservations in La Rosalia Beach Hut, the cottage that we rented already have 2 bedfoam at the second floor complete with electric fan, pillows and beddings. We were able to rent the cottage for only 1,500 pesos for an overnight pass.
When we finally arrived at the beach. Without wasting any time, my friends and I headed straight to the water for some fun. We splashed around, ran along the shore, and enjoyed each other's company. The weather was perfect that day, the summer sun and the sound of the waves was incredibly amazing.
After our water adventures, we went back to our cottage to eat and rest. My Mom and Grandmother which we call Mommy, prepared all our favorite food and my most requested one was the Kiniliaw na isda, it is like ceviche, made with raw fish drench in coconut milk and sliced cucumbers.
My Tito’s also bought some pork belly which we later grilled at the beach. Tito Paul and Tita Salve sponsored a big Goldilocks cake for us. We also had lumpia, fried chicken and my mother’s special spaghetti. We had a nice meal and my classmates were also full. As we sat together, sharing stories and laughter, I felt incredibly grateful for such wonderful friends and family.
My all time favorite Kinilaw, it is best paired with rootcrops like sweet potato and taro.
Later in the afternoon, my friends suggested we visit the Sulangan Bridge and jump from there. The bridge was known for its height and the adrenaline rush it offered to jumpers. We walked to the bridge, and as we stood at the edge, looking down at the water below, my heart raced with excitement. One by one, we took turns jumping off the bridge, screaming with excitement as we dive into the water below. After everyone of us jumped we swam back to the beach front letting the current from the bridge take us back to the beachfront.
As the day came to an end, my classmates gathered their things and headed back to the bus stop while me and my family stayed overnight at our rented cottage. It had been a birthday celebration filled with laughter, adventure, and unforgettable moments. I felt grateful to have such amazing friends and family who made my birthday so special.
Before I went to sleep that night, I thanked my friends in our group chat for coming and making my birthday so memorable. This has been my best birthday so far and I really wish to go back to the beach and spend the night camping once again.
Thank you for reading, and I appreciate your support. Do you also like going to the beach and spending time with your family during special occasion? I hope this story brought a smile to your face.
