-- None of this is financial advice, more rambling and observations than anything --
One thing I haven't seen much lately in /Created are posts about the Altcoin market. I have not recently posted about it either, but now it is time I took a brief look at the ciphercoins in cyber space.
Bitcoin market cap dominance has risen to 56.17% which I think is a strong signal that people are more confident in BTC than altcoins right now. ETH is down to 12.41%, USDT just 4.94%, Doge 0.91%
Cross off Bitcoin and you can see what is left of the altcoin pie, ETH being over 1/4 of it, with USDT, BNB and Solana adding up to more than 50% of the altcoin pie between them. So if you don't have any ETH, BNB, SOL or USDT, what do you want to hold? Bitcoin of course. BTC is the Gold Satoshi.
What are Altcoins?
Altcoins are different versions of token software and not the same as the 'Bitcoin', but what is the 'best' altcoin to choose? Well I think that HIVE is the best of course, but that's obvious to us all. Why? Well it has Utility, it has a use. This is the best place to compose your blog, have a website, and build a community. You can build up your Hive portfolio and choose the front end interface you like the most based on your preferred style.
The second layer of Bitcoin, is the Altcoin layer. Web3.0 as a term is debatable, but what I love about Hive is that we can actually rebuild the web index using Hive Userss, Hive Communities, and Hive Users. In fact we are part of writing a more trusted index of human centered compositions and assisted by some automated features. Hive is the altcoin we all know.

HIVE is #488 by Market Cap
There are so many altcoins it makes the mind blur.
Hive is ranked right there in the middle between BTSE Token and COQ Inu?
BTSE Token #485 - $0.5196 (+7.8%)
Ethereum ecosystem https://www.btse.com/en/
"The BTSE Platform (hereinafter referred to as the “Platform”, “we” or “us”) allow its users (hereinafter referred to as “the Users” or “you”) to trade in Digital Assets and also provides other services related to Digital Assets (the “Services”). For convenience, you and us are hereby collectively referred to as “both Parties” and individually as “each Party”.

Coq Inu #488 - $0.051205 (-1.5%)
Avalanche Chain https://www.coqinu.com/ "Life is better when you have some..." (Seriously? This is a joke coin.) "$COQ is a community coin with no intrinsic value or expectation of financial return. There is no formal team or roadmap." [69.420T $COQ]
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/coq-inu
Ok so one is a Platform you become a user on, with a ERC-20 token that belongs to ["domain": "assets.btse.com"] and the other is an AVAX chicken joke with (No Allocations No Presale).
Next I will sort the top 300
by 24 hour volume, and pick a few out.

AAVE $148.96
[Whitepaper. "Aave is a decentralised non-custodial liquidity protocol where users can participate as suppliers or borrowers. Suppliers provide liquidity to the market while earning interest, and borrowers can access liquidity by providing collateral that exceeds the borrowed amount." Docs.]
"At the heart of a lending pool is the concept of reserve : every pool holds reserves in multiple currencies, with the total amount in Ethereum defined as total liquidity. A reserve accepts deposits from lenders. Users can borrow these funds, granted that they lock a greater value as collateral, which backs the borrow position.", "Every reserve has a specific Loan-To-Value (LTV), calculated as the weighted average of the different LTVs of the currencies composing the collateral, where the weight for each LTV is the equivalent amount of the collateral in ETH."

FET Fetch $1.21
Artificial Superintelligence Alliance
"Autonomous Economic Agent Framework" https://fetch.ai/
[Whitepaper, "Abstract.: The Internet and the services delivered via it are increasingly centralised on a few monopolistic platforms. Today’s web frameworks are conceived to cater for increasing returns to scale and winner-takes-all business models with a built-in asymmetry between users and services. Existing multi-agent and agent architectures have seen no significant adoption outside niche applications. We propose a novel agent framework which is designed to allow for a decentralised digital economy to manifest where each individual and organisation is represented by an autonomous economic entity with its own agency. The framework bridges the old and new web and employs distributed ledger technologies as core parts of its construction. We introduce the framework, discuss the performance characteristics of its current implementation and demonstrate several application areas.,

ORDI $33.35

Inscriptions are as durable, immutable, secure, and decentralized as Bitcoin itself.", Abstract: "This document defines a scheme for assigning serial numbers to sats."]
"$Ordi is a Bitcoin derivative product based on the BRC20 token standard. The BRC20 is a novel concept built on the Bitcoin Ordinals Protocol, similar to Ethereum's ERC20 token standard. This took a while, I spent probably four hours composing this, looking and reading through all the coins as seen above. As you can see there is a lot going on in the Altcoin space, but some of it is just for fun and not all projects are the same. Not all coins are limited, not all code is secure.
Whatever you do going into 2025 make sure you read everything you can and understand how to balance your budget before you invest any hard earned money into random meme coins.
There are however some very interesting and complex projects and problems that brilliant minds are hard at work to solve. They need your Bitcoin! And so do I. But I am grateful for your upvotes.
Out of these coins that I mentioned, which are most interesting to you, and what about them had you reading more? Do you hold any of these coins, and what does a balanced portfolio look like to you?
Do your own research, these are just observations.
