Al momento de leer un cuento a nuestros pequeños son muchas las cosas que debemos tomar en cuenta, sobre todo en la escogencia del libro o cuento a narrar. Entre las primeras características está la extención del mismo. Es importante entender el por qué un cuento a narrar, no debe ser extenso. Debemos recordar que el tiempo de atención de los pequeños de 4 a 5 años es muy breve, por lo que enfrentarlos a un relato extenso pudiera tornarse en una actividad agotadora para el adulto, y aburrida o sin sentido para el niño, bien sea porque el adulto llegado un momento pierda conexión entre la razón inicial de leerle el cuento al infante, o bien sea porque el niño pierda el interés o simplemente se despiste dentro de tanta información que puede estar o no mal narrada, y que por extensa se vuelva agotadora.
When reading a story to our children, there are many things we must take into account, especially when choosing the book or story to tell, among the first characteristics is the length of the story. It is important to understand why a story should not be long. We must remember that the attention span of children from 4 to 5 years old is very short, so facing them with a long story could become an exhausting activity for the adult, and boring or meaningless for the child, either because the adult loses connection between the initial reason for reading the story to the child, or because the child loses interest or simply gets lost in so much information that may or may not be poorly narrated,and that it becomes exhausting and timeconsuming.

Podemos aseverar que en muchas oportunidades nos ha gustado un cuento y su mensaje, su narrativa, sin darnos cuenta o sin saber del tema nos ha enganchado sus características, y nos sentimos deseosos de transmitirles esa historia a nuestros pequeños, queriendo de alguna forma, lograr que ellos perciban lo que la lectura de esa historia ha logrado en nosotros y de alguna forma sepan de gente que ha escrito cosas maravillosas. Pero resulta que al comenzar a narrarles la historia nos percatamos de su extención o redundancia, que a nosotros nos envolvió, pero que evidentemente el pequeño no procesa de la misma forma, y es entonces donde comenzamos a realizar atajos al contar la historia, y quitamos un poquito de esté párrafo, un poquito de este otro, y sin darnos cuenta terminamos contando un cuento totalmente ajeno a la historia que dignamente escribió el autor del libro. Ante esta realida debemos ser más cuidadosos y ser coherentes con el libro a escoger y su extención o brevedad.
We can affirm that in many opportunities we have liked a story and its message, its narrative, without realizing or without knowing the subject we have been hooked by its characteristics, and we feel eager to transmit that story to our little ones, wanting in some way, to make them perceive what the reading of that story has achieved in us and somehow know about people who have written wonderful things. But it turns out that when we begin to narrate the story, we notice its length or redundancy, which involved us, but evidently the child does not process it in the same way, and that is when we begin to make shortcuts in telling the story, and we remove a little bit of this paragraph, a little bit of that paragraph, and without realizing it, we end up telling a story that is totally unrelated to the story that the author of the book worthily wrote. Faced with this reality, we must be more careful and be consistent with the book to be chosen and its length or brevity.

Es interesante entender que los relatos a escoger deben poseer un vocabulario sencillo, con descripciones claras y comparaciones que puedan evocar la imaginación del pequeño oyente. El narrador debe aprender a detenerse en cada oración que amerite aclaración de un concepto pero apenas lo explique o de un sinónimo continue la narración sin chistar, esto con el objetivo de que el infante tome la información con naturalidad, que no se sienta en una clase aburrida, se deben hacer las aclaraciones de conceptos de forma clara, breve y con naturalidad.
It is interesting to understand that the stories to be chosen must have a simple vocabulary, with clear descriptions and comparisons that can evoke the imagination of the young listener. The narrator must learn to stop at each sentence that requires clarification of a concept, but as soon as he explains it or a synonym, continue the narration without any fuss, this with the objective that the child takes the information naturally, that he does not feel in a boring class, the clarifications of concepts must be made clearly, briefly and naturally.

Otro punto importante es tomar en cuenta que más que la narrativa de características físicas de un personaje, al contar una historia los pequeños se motivan bastante sabiendo las cualidades emocionales que su personaje representa, esto nos puede servir de mucho si queremos lograr introducir a nuestros hijos en el entendimiento de expresiones poéticas que abundan en muchas lecturas, y por supuesto en el hecho mismo de reforzar en ellos valores y principios individuales.A todo cuanto vemos en una narrativa le podemos aprovechar para educar a nuiestros pequeños.
Another important point is to take into account that more than the narrative of the physical characteristics of a character, when telling a story the children are motivated enough knowing the emotional qualities that their character represents, this can be very useful if we want to introduce our children in the understanding of poetic expressions that abound in many readings, and of course in the fact itself to reinforce in them values and individual principles. We can take advantage of everything we see in a narrative to educate our children.

Debemos prestar mucha atención a las expresiones de nuestros hijos en el momento que decimos una frase importante dentro de la narración, que posiblemente carga en su mensajes, sentimientos que el niño por naturaleza si está sumido en la narración, puede expresar con todo su cuerpo. Esto no puede dar un asomo de su entendimiento, o incluso, de la forma de cómo el ve las cosas, ahora bien aquí debemos aclarar que el narrador debe haber leído con antelación el cuento a narrar, esto le brindará la oportunidad de saber dónde y cuales frases u oraciones debe matizar con algún acento o expresión específica, lo cual contribuirá considerablemente al logro de la atención del que le escucha y de la captación adecuada del mensaje que se pretende trabajar con el cuento narrado.
We must pay close attention to the expressions of our children at the moment we say an important phrase within the narration, which possibly carries in its messages feelings that the child by nature, if he is immersed in the narration, can express with his whole body. This can not give a glimpse of his understanding, or even, of the way he sees things. Now here we must clarify that the narrator must have read in advance the story to narrate, this will give him the opportunity to know where and which phrases or sentences should be nuanced with an accent or specific expression, which will contribute considerably to the achievement of the attention of the listener and the proper capture of the message that is intended to work with the narrated story.

Tampoco debemos subestimar la capacidad de entendimiento de los pequeños, ellos a igual que nosotros pueden percibir la intencidad de una frase, pueden conmoverse ante la descripción de una narración y hasta razonan situaciones haciendo pequeñas analogías, y es ante todo esto que debemos estar atentos. Seleccionar una historia para contar y saber contarla debe tomarse con responsabilidad, no se debe olvidar la edad cognitiva de nuestros audioescuchas, es una característica que pueden ser distinta en dos o más niños de la misma edad.
Nor should we underestimate the capacity of understanding of the little ones, they, just like us, can perceive the intentionality of a sentence, they can be moved by the description of a narration and even reason situations by making small analogies, and it is before all this that we must be attentive. Al narrar bajemos un poco la voz para explicar alguna palabra o situación rápidamente, y volvamos enseguida al tono y postura que adecuamos desde el comienzo de la narración. Recordemos repetir las cosas sobre todo el título del cuento, todas las veces que sean necesarias y algo ya estaba dejando de lado, no debemos dejar atrás las onomatopeyas, es un recurso super adecuado para que asocien imágenes, adquieran conocimiento e imaginen con más intensidad, además procuraría un momento hasta divertido entre familia.
When narrating, let's lower our voice a little to explain a word or situation quickly, and then return immediately to the tone and posture that we adapted from the beginning of the narration. Recordemos entonces que para los más pequeños lecturas cortas, con narraciones sencillas, explicaciones claras y comprensibles para ellos, uso de sinónimos, onomatopeyas y mucha actitud y dramatización al narrar. No los pierdas de vista mientras narren, sus expresiones dirán mucho de lo que hay dentro de si mismos, podrás ver sus miedos, su valentía, su capacidad de sencibilizarse y un fin de emociones que conociéndolas les podrá ayudar a encaminar su desarrollo personal y cognitivo.
Recordemos entonces que para los más pequeños lecturas cortas, con narraciones sencillas, explicaciones claras y comprensibles para ellos, uso de sinónimos, onomatopeyas y mucha actitud y dramatización al narrar. No los pierdas de vista mientras narren sus expresiones dirán mucho de lo que hay dentro de si mismos, podrás ver sus miedos, su valentía, su capacidad de sencibilizarse y un fin de emociones que conociéndolas les podrá ayudar a encaminar su desarrollo personal y cognitivo.
