Slinterlands Social Media Challenge - Ability of Reach on Back to Basics!

Hivers! and Splinterbuddies! Hello. It is me once again sharing my splinterlands point of view in its Social Media Challenge. To the readers, I hope have you all been well today and the past days.
I am going to share my understanding for this Social Media Challenge regarding how Reach ability can be an edge on Back to Basics ruleset. Let's get familiar with this type of battle situation on splinterlands.


Back to Basics Ruleset

Units lose all abilities.

  • If Back to Basics is present to your Rulesets in battle, bear in mind that you are going to fight a battle that will removed all the Monster units abilities of your team. So, mostly of the melee attackers are being greatly affected by this ruleset that sneak and opportunity abilities are shut off unless otherwise there's a contradictory Melee Mayhem that is present in the ruleset. So the Range and Magic damage dealers are the cards that should be placedd at the back of your team for your offense to be much more effective.
Reach Ability

Can use melee attacks in the second position.

  • The ability that grants melee attacker to attack on second position is a good boost to your team. Imagine that you can place a second tank that can attack even if your first position monster unit card is still present in the battle field.

Let's see a sample battle for this set up.

Rulesets:

  • Reverse Speed, Up to Eleven and Back to Basics with 13 mana capacity and Water, Earth and Death Splinters availability.

  • I am fighting this battle with Water Splinter as Possibilus The Wise as the summoner. As you can see, my monster units was boosted with the summoners abilities and the most important one is the reach ability. Another thing to note is that this fight is just a small mana battle and my summoner already consumed a great amount of it. The reach ability is the reason, and to another thing to note that small mana melee attackers of the water splinter posses a great amount of damage and health. Hardy Stonefish on the front followed by Cruel Sethropod, this two can be considered to be good tanks on small mana scale battles. Another card that can be a good tank nowadays is Halfling Refugee and placing it midpart of my team followed by Igor Darkspear then Torrent Fiend on the my last position.

The Battle:

  • The opponent team was using Death Splinters with Thaddius Brood as the summoner. Lessening the firepower of the magicians and lessening the life of the opponent is the goal of my opponent. He also choose mainly Range Damage dealers for its offense.
    Let us see what happened to the battle.

Round 1 of the battle and i lost my tank already, but still, its too early to conclude the battle. Let us see the other rounds.

With lots of tramples triggered, the opponents front teams already wiped out on round 2. Trample is another great ability for the melee attackers for it will make your melee cards on the rampage when the ability was triggered.

And there it goes. The battle ended on round 3 because there are no covers for range to continue their attacks from my opponent team.

  • Having a Reach ability in Back to Basics ruleset is one great ability for the battle. It is also a good formula if you are a melee loving player of the game. Besides, melee attackers posses great amount of health that can be use as an edge for winning the Back to Basics ruleset.
