The following are just a few photos that I took today (10-16-2022) in and from my yard. Most of the photos show off some colors that caught my eye like these little whirligigs that were on a Maple tree in my front yard.
I've always known these seed holders aka samaras as whirligigs or helicopters / copters. I also still like to see them doing their swirly whirly dance as they fall to the ground this time of year. It also makes me laugh because, to me anyway, the seeds inside of it makes it look like a little "butt" ..lol.
As soon as I stepped off my porch I noticed the sun shining brightly through some trees and I do love a little (or lots of) colorful sun flare!
Not many trees in the area are getting some Autumn colors yet but the trees across the street from me were offering a very nice display.
My neighbor next door has some beautiful red flowers growing in his garden. My daughter says they are called Celosia flowers. She knows a lot about plants and flowers and I think she even has some Celosia seeds in her bounty of seeds collection. I also noticed when I looked at the photo on my big screen that there was a big praying mantis on one of the flowers on the left side of the photo.
I was talking with my neighbor and told him how much I loved the flowers and he said he doesn't even know how he got them because he didn't plant them. I told him that it must be a gift from the Universe and how awesome they paired with his Marigolds. This is one of the Marigolds in my own garden. I think I do prefer the ones with more red coloring in them although I have some yellow-y ones as well.
By the time I walked to my back yard the sun had moved along with me. I got the sun flare again mostly by accident but I'm not complaining as it looks a bit magical to me.
I was so busy checking out the colors and sun flare that I didn't immediately notice that some bricks my husband had stacked up, like a wall, had fallen over. Probably, all of the rains we've had lately made the ground soft and had something to do with them falling over.
Don't worry though! All of the cats have been accounted for and they are all safe and sound! Here is Baby and Sad Cat. Sylvester was still in the drive-way rolling around in some gravel. I wonder what Baby and Sad Cat are staring at though? Maybe some falling leaves or perhaps a whirligig or two! 💖
