"Hello, dear members of our wonderful community. Today, I'm excited to share a valuable tip on achieving precise lining in an oil palm main nursery, which not only enhances its appearance but also simplifies nursery operations. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Creating Pecking Tools - Craft your pecking tools using bamboo sticks. Split the sticks and shape one end to a sharp point with a well-sharpened cutlass.
Step 2: Calibrating Lining Spacing - For standard bag spacing, maintain 90cm intervals. However, if you have limited space and more seedlings, consider adjusting the spacing. I used a 60cm spacing for my 22-hectare main nursery. To calibrate the lining wire, use a measuring tape to mark points, create small holes, and securely attach a binding wire. Ensure not to attach the binding wire without the hole, as it could lead to irregular lining.
Step 3: Use two lining wire: The Two lining wires used, are one for tensioning and another for creating baselines. Both wire should be held with a strong stick or pole, drag and held steady while pecking.
Step 4: Identify Starting Point: First make the baselines (Horizontal lines) and attach the pecks on all points of the baselines then create another line (Vertical lining) with the first point on the tensioning wire called the 'life point,' and the second point called death point then place the tensioning wire on the first peck of the baseline and tension it firmly to attach all pecks, starting from the life point of the tension wire. Move to the next peck of the baseline and tension the wire to attach all pecks, starting from the death point, and continue this process. This results in a perfectly spaced triangular arrangement for the bags.
