So close to being done with this stage
The seedling phase is by far my least favorite stage in growing. It seems like I have been in the seedling stage forever. Mainly because I failed at my last grow during this stage because of inadequate lighting and cold temperatures. But with this grow, I have rectified all of those issues and these seedlings are doing great.
For this grow, I have two different strains. I have an autoflower of Northern Lights, and a photoperiod OG Kush. The photo above is the OG Kush. I have never had this strain before and I got the seed for free with the Northern Lights seeds.
Two days ago, I moved them into the large pots. They were just in the little starter cups and @futuremind recommended that I move them as soon as I could because their taproots grow quickly and may stall at the bottom of the cups. So I made sure to soak the soil and place them in the pots so that their roots can begin to stretch out and take over the soil.
The Northern Lights appears to be a bit behind the OG Kush when it comes to leaf formations. I think by the end of the day, this one will have a little bit more growth of that second set of leaves.
As you can see above, the OG Kush has some splits coming off of the new leaf growth. The Northern Lights should begin to have those split leaves son as well.
The Northern Lights had a pretty long stalk a few days ago, but when I transplanted them into the larger pots, I buried some of that stalk so the plant wasnt stretching too much early on. She does have a pretty strong stalk though. I can't wait to see how big this plant gets. Northern Lights is one of my favorite strains and I have been out of it for over a year now.
These plants are doing great, and I really want to thank @futuremind for the tips he has given me with these. The seedling stage is pretty nerve wracking and I am glad that I am almost done with it. By this time next week, these ladies will look nothing like they do now. They will have a few more sets of leaves and the leaves are going to start getting really big.
In some other exciting news, my grain jars are getting very close to being ready to move into substrate and begin the fruiting process. They have been in these jars for almost a month and half and the mycelium is really starting to take over. Once I got the heater in the grow room, it helped the mycelium spread a lot faster. I shook both jars a few days ago to break up the mycelium and spread it around to the grain that didn't have mycelium on it. I think I will be starting my tub on Monday. From there, it should be less than a month until I have some fresh mushrooms. I am super excited to trip with these mushrooms. I have heard a lot of great things about the B+ mushroom strain. I am going to be getting some spores for other strains as well. This is going to be an exciting summer for my mushroom journey. It will be cool to have a few different strains to choose from and find out which ones work best for me during my trips.
