Such a great game
After almost 70 hours, I have finished Horizon Forbidden West. When I started playing this game again after Elden Ring, I was not sure if I would be able to finish it or not, but now that I have completed the game, I am glad that I gave this game the time needed to complete it.
I am not sure if I will play anything as good as Elden Ring for a while, but this game was really great. The graphics in this one are some of the best graphics I have ever seen in video games.
This game has some really cool enemy design and some of the enemies are huge.
One of the things I really liked about the enemy design is that the parts of the enemies break off as you fight them, which can be collected and needed to craft weapons and armor. It makes farming certain enemies fun while you are trying to get that part needed to upgrade your gear.
The concept for the game is pretty similar to the Zero Dawn, but now you need to defeat the Zeniths, which are basically immortal humans that are protected by a forcefield.
But once you find the way to destroy their shield, they are pretty pathetic enemies that get destroyed pretty easily.
The whole ending was kind of a let down though. There was a lot of buildup to facing the Zeniths, but you really only fight one of them.
The ending of the game does seem to leave the story open to a DLC in the future. I will most likely end up getting it when it does release because this game was pretty fun and I really enjoy the story behind it.
This game is visually amazing and has some of the best voice acting I have ever seen in video games, but it is not perfect.
The world is pretty massive, but overall, it just feels empty. There really is no sense of exploration. When you do find some hidden spot that in other games would have some cool loot to find, there really isn't any special there. It is usually just a cache containing some potions, traps or some random crap that is only good for selling for shards, which is the ingame currency.
So there really is no point in going exploring anywhere, unless you just want to find random data points that are spread all over the world that I guess are good for those gamers that are completionists and have to find all the little things hidden around in games. To me, I just think a lot of these things are filler and don't really offer anything to actual enjoyment to a game. I'm not an achievement hunter in games and I don't care to 100% them when I play them. I would just like if there was a point to exploration and you are rewarded by stuff that actually enhances your gameplay.
Overall, I did enjoy the game, but there really aren't any memorable parts of the game to me. It is a lot of going from one way point to another and killing machines. The story is the saving grace for this game. There is a ton of dialogue in this one and a lot of people hate that part of it. I didn't really mind all the talking between the characters in this one, because they really did a good job at trying to show the different relationships of all the characters, which the first game lacked.
Now that I have beat this game, I need to find out what I am going to play through next. I still have Dying Light 2 that I need to complete and I am also about halfway done with Shadow of the Colossus. I've also got Tiny Tina's Wonderland on my Xbox that I need to finish. I am looking forward to finishing all of those games now.
