So today I was craving spicy jollof rice with peppered chicken and as I laid in bed thinking about it and feeling too lazy to cook, I decided to write something on the jollof war in Africa. Jollof rice is a respected citizen of Nigeria, it is the life of the party, the one that comes through, the show stopper etc. Be it a wedding reception, funeral, end of the year parties etc, it is mostly the meal on all the menu. I can’t forget festive periods, crazy enough, In early years jollof rice was cooked only during festive periods, it was a sign to show how important those particular periods were and it’s still a thing now.

Whether garnished with vegetables, or Cooked plainly, it’s still an amazing meal.
Recent years Nigeria jollof has been compared to other African countries jollof, and to be bias I still believe we make the best jollof rice. A basic Nigeria jollof usually consist of rice, tomato paste, onions, spices, pepper, maggi, among others.
I think it’s safe to say that Jollof can be ranked as one of the best export meals from the country. What do you think??
And I think I’ve been motivated to cook it by talking about it.
