Cleanliness, they say, is next to godliness. For some that enjoy cleaning and being organised, like me, we always try to keep both our workspace and homes organised, but personally, it gives me a sense of satisfaction.
As a single lady, I live alone in a single self contained apartment with a smaller space to manage, making it easier to clean but quite challenging to organise and manage. However, I have a daily routine of always making my bed neatly and sweeping the room immediately I wake up to avoid leaving the room untidy. Doing this simple task on a daily basis gives me a sense of accomplishment and has also helped me maintain orderliness in a limited space. I also love laying out my outfit for work on the bed before taking my bath; this helps me avoid scattering my box, especially when I am running late in the morning.
Sweeping the room and alternatively mopping it is usually not enough, so I usually do thorough sanitation that involves dusting and cleaning surfaces during the weekend, thereby preventing the accumulation of dirt.
I do not employ a colour-coding system for my files or utilise hidden storage for my overflowing junk drawer because I have none, but I have been able to come up with simple but effective ways of keeping my belongings organised at all times, even when I am exhausted and lazy.
For instance, my shoe rack serves as a designated space for footwear, but on days when I feel exhausted and lazy, I just neatly place the shoes beside the rack temporarily. This is because I usually clean the shoes immediately after use before placing them back on the rack, but an exhausted me would not be able to lift a finger to clean; hence, I just neatly place them beside the shoe rack.
My bedsheet/duvet bag.
Similarly, for clothing organisation, whenever I do not feel like folding and arranging freshly washed clothes, I use my bedsheet or duvet bag to temporarily store them until I am ready to fold and arrange them. This is because I have different boxes for different outfits, which makes it easier to pick out an outfit without turning my box upside down. This has helped me to avoid piling up clothes on my bed, box, or even chair, thereby maintaining a tidy space at all times.
In general I ensure that my kitchen, toilet, bags, jewelries, hair and all are neatly kept at all times for easy access to avoid making the room look untidy and is organized. Being a part time tailor same applies also to my sewing materials which I keep neatly in a bag for easy access whenever I need to use them.
