This photo was taken in Ninh Binh, a district located less than a hundred kilometres south of Hanoi. From here it is easy to visit on a day trip. The landscape is stunning. Limestone mountains that look as if they are spread over or rising from the rice paddies. Walking or bicycling is a great way to take in the landscape. But a slow boat trip on the river is good alternative. Beside the landscape you will find temples and pagodas, like the Bai Dinh pagoda. I did it as a day tour, but it could be a great idea to stay overnight as well.
