In another time, the center of the city of Maracay was much more crowded than today, I remember that when I was a child it was a complete nightmare to go on weekends or holidays, even on weekdays you could find many people. So, on those outings with my mother to buy clothes or things for the home, we always passed by the front of the Galería Plaza shopping mall. In those days it was newly built and I remember looking forward to seeing clothing stores and stores that sold spectacular things, of course, for children at that age anything could dazzle.
The center of my city has always been and still is simple, a few parallel and cross streets where most of the stores are concentrated, but without large structures. So when this mall was built it quickly rose commercially and in a short time it was crowded, in fact, sometimes they closed the entrance to control the flow of people. The cylindrical corner and the bricks gave a feeling of modernity, but at the same time maintaining the essence of the times. The windows were a large mirror in which you could see the nearest spaces clearly, although it seems silly, those things amazed me.
Next, you will see the facade of the shopping center, this is not so extensive as it faces directly towards Bolivar Avenue, so it lacks green areas or common spaces, there is only a small pedestrian sidewalk. Regarding the accesses, it only has two entrances on the aforementioned avenue, they are not large entrances, but sufficient for the size of the structure.
Towards the back, there is only one entrance in which we can see a metal and glass structure on which we see the name of the mall and the logo. This entrance is on Miranda Street and leads to a large hallway which leads directly to the entrance on Bolivar Avenue.
The internal spaces are, even today, quite striking. This aspect has not been restructured since its construction and yet they still look great. As can be seen in the photo of the stairs, there are four floors that have good height and are in a perfect state of maintenance. Gray and pastel colors reign supreme and give integrity to the environment. It is also perfectly lit in each of its spaces, it is remarkable that the mall authorities are very attentive to detail.
Now, there is one element that I want to highlight and that is the ceiling, we see a large cylindrical dome that covers from beginning to end the entire mall, that impresses me as there are many meters. The material of the roof, which I assume is plastic, lets the light pass through and that makes the environment have a lot of material light. However, the heat is an aspect that should be better controlled.
So, in this way I have shared with you one more structure of my city. Maybe this will be the last mall I post here, but there are always possibilities of finding new or unknown ones for me, so we'll see. I hope to see you next week with more content, I keep insisting that the tag #maracay serves as a guide for those who want to know interesting things about my city. see you!
