It has been raining cats and dogs in my city, but after a minute the sun comes out with all its splendor, that has been happening frequently in recent years, and well, this is not the weather report of the city of Maracay, but I wanted to mention this because precisely that factor had prevented me from taking the photos you will see below, in fact, you may notice that the sky is gray and threatening, I could say that I was about to fail on the third attempt.
The Maracay Plaza shopping center has an interesting history for me. I used to pass by there every time I accompanied one of my brothers to run personal errands and while I was waiting I took the opportunity to walk around the place and browse in the clothing stores. In those years, it was a place full of commercial establishments, it was full of life and had the particularity that the atmosphere was quite quiet and peaceful, I think loud music was forbidden, is the only explanation I can find. And well, I speak in the past because nowadays the story is very different, the economic situation has caused many establishments to close their doors, so only a few remain.
As can be seen in the exterior photos, the mall has only two floors and although it has a basement, it only serves as a parking lot, there are no commercial establishments there. You may notice that the roof structure is adorned with square terracotta sheets, that has always been a distinctive element of this mall as it is rare to see in other structures. The exterior photos were taken from Aragua Avenue, Bermudez Avenue and a couple from the external parking lot.
From the moment you enter the mall by any of its entrances, you can notice the tranquility and little activity it has, although it is true that there are still open establishments, it does not compare to previous times, in fact, I think one of the things that keep this place alive is that there is a large supermarket that is visited by the neighbors of the large buildings that are on the sides of the mall, although another factor could also be the good location it has.
In the inner part, right in front of the central plaza, there is a large ceiling painted white and blue supported by many gray columns that is undoubtedly one of the visual attractions of this mall. Previously there was a large restaurant that was supported by the interesting and striking roof, it was practically in the aisles and operated great, but unfortunately today it is only a common area.
Otherwise, the common areas are quite clean, tidy and in very good condition. There is plenty of natural light in the corridors as the ceiling is open throughout most of the structure. The corridors are wide and comfortable, the gray color prevails along with the beige of the floor, which gives an impression of great integrity.
So the Maracay Plaza shopping center looks like an alternative for very specific things, but still maintains its charm of previous years when it was a reference in the structures of the city of Maracay, it is normal that the current buildings are visually more impressive, but that will never detract from the integrity of a good structure. It was a pleasure to share, see you soon.
