I remember back in my early school days, i will park all the work in my department and this got people talking. But "People talking" is not the reason i told you not to overload yourself. Its you dear, you deserve rest.
During that period, the school imposed compulsory levy on every student, we are to pay up soon at a very slight deadline. I had to map out a way to get the money, so each time an assignment is given, i proposed to do the assignments for some lazy students in school in exchange for money.
I was doing well with my newly acquired business till i brought home 20 assignments to be done. I wrote and wrote and wrote till i got tired. I had to plead with a friend to help me out.
If not for my friend, i won't have finished the assignment and the owners of the unfinished work will definitely fail the course because the assignment was supposed to be a test.
On my quest for money, i took a work i beyond my capability and i didn't only cause harm to myself, it would have affected others too in a negative way.
I sacrificed my rest for work and i was greatly stressed out. Being stressed out is not healthy though its common.
I did the same thing few days ago, i work in an office, i work as a freelancer, i work as a graphics designer and web developer.
I don't know if it was the sunday prayer, but work came from different angle on monday morning. I received 13 works at the same time. I was to develop a website for one, the other was a logo, then a banner and office work was also ringing in my head.. Ahhhh !! 😂😂
Worst part was that i was accepting and accepting and accepting. Deadline was on Wednesday or Thursday. To tell you the truth, i didn't finish 40% of the work i received. Some clients got angry and left. They took their business elsewhere and this is another disadvantage of overloading yourself with work.
As a businessman, you should know that loosing a customer/client is a big problem.
Taking more than what you can do is very bad because it can leave you in a very confused state.
I am not saying you should start rejecting offers because you are too busy with others, but a little " i am busy, it might take me more time than usual to finish your work" wont harm your client. He/she will be faced with a decision to either allow you do the work, or take it somewhere else if its urgent. At least its better than disappointing the customer/client.
Such client, even when they leave, can still come back another time. But disappointed customers will never smell your side again.
So that is it, don't overwork yourself, because it will stress you and will also affect others. And it affecting others brings a bad image to you and your business.
Cheers!
