The drama continues for Kanye West after news recently went out that JPMorgan Chase was going to cut ties with the Yeezy brand. It isn't the first time that things have gotten a little controversial for West and his business deals lately.
The news of JPMorgan Chase cutting ties with him comes after some highly criticized comments that had been made online recently. That also isn't anything new it has been happening for years and still continues to be effective as ever at grabbing the attention of millions.
It looks like West has been told that he needs to find another place to go after the bank is cutting ties.
There are a variety of other places that he might go looking, could those other banks then too follow in the same steps and end a relationship the same though? Some have also pointed out online that West should look into cryptocurrency at this time for his brand and business endeavors. Might we see some of that?
A number of people today are increasingly worried it seems about the topic of censorship and access to financial services. How far might this go? We just saw the sort of backlash PayPal received for the idea that people might be fined or penalized for controversial content posting, and this seems to be part of a continued trend. It might not always be the best business decision to say certain comments but not every business owner is going to care either.
Some are willing to face that wrath of cancellation and a few have been able to withstand the heat and come out still functioning after it. Of course consumers are always free to vote with their dollars and controversial speakers shouldn't be surprised if they alienate a large portion of those consumers as a result.
