What is the most popular Halloween candy?

Some states have different favorites than others when it comes to which candy might be preferred by many to receive when they go trick-or-treating around the neighborhood.

Was there a favorite that you were always excited to see more than the others when you would go through your haul at the end of the night or the next morning?

It is estimated that Americans purchase hundreds of millions of pounds of candy for Halloween with chocolate and candy being the most popular.

This event is one of the biggest for candy companies, the day before Halloween has been one of Hershey's biggest days of the entire year for example.

There are other items that have become more common in recent years too though, such as stickers, activity books, and other non-food items.

For candy companies it is a busy time of year and there is also a lot of pet spending that goes on around this holiday as well because people want to dress their pet up in one costume or another for an online photo or themed event to attend. Hundreds of millions has been spent just on Halloween pet spending alone.

Candy sizes might be even smaller this year too as shrinkflation has made its way through the grocery stores, and some might not be able to afford handing out candy to the community either. However, according to some polls it looks like more might be interested in celebrating it this year than last year.

There are a variety of community areas as well for trick or treating groups to go, it doesn't only have to be traveling around the traditional neighborhood at night on Halloween.

Some of the most popular Halloween candies include

  • Butterfinger bar
  • Jolly Ranchers
  • Skittles
  • Twix
  • KitKat
  • Reese's Cups
  • Starburst
  • Sour Patch Kids
  • Snickers
  • Candy Corn
  • M&M’s

It looks like Twix and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup might be among the most popular of all.

Candy is the focal point for many on Halloween and it's estimated that Americans spend some 3 billion or more annually on candy around this time of year.

With spending on decorations and costumes altogether it is estimated to be closer to $10 billion or more.

I love Snickers more 😋

$10 Billion? That's a very big number. Any business would love to compete to get a portion of that. Come to think of it, businesses who are getting big profit might also be spending on advertising for the celebration of Halloween? I mean, they take profit from it so it's only logical that they would want more people to celebrate it? 🤔
