Watercolor sketch for a new Seascape painting
This year, I've promised myself a return to sea and landscapes. I used to do them fairly often and then got so busy with other art projects they fell to the wayside. However, my small return to printmaking via the "gelliplate" has me wanting to use some of my old paintings as a jumping off point to try some new prints out.
Here is the sketch with no color. This is an imagined house base loosely on an amalgam of the Summer houses around us. It is a fantastical view so rooflines do not quite match up, but I rather like that. Sometimes one can imbue a land/seascape with a bit of something just off enough that I almost feel as if it's a form of very Subtle Surrealism (TM) lol, I'm kidding about trademarking that term, but I do often use it for my seascapes.

I'm excited to start using my gelliplate again for printmaking, as it's sort of a contained way to get the joy of printmaking (the process) with a pretty good tactile result but with out a huge press and a lot of room required. I'll share that when I begin making them.
