So I visited one of the great tourist sites of Ibadan city, this time for a photoshoot - The great Mapo Hall, one of the oldest neoclassical styled structures in West Africa.
Apparently, in a twist of things, the model here was my boss at work. She had wanted to do a photoshoot and I had been suggesting that we use an outdoor location, not just because it was a nice idea but also because my studio wasn't large enough for a photoshoot - I only did headshot videography, product shoots, online content and podcasts in my very small studio space.
As you already know by now, she agreed to do an outdoor shoot and we chose to use the great Mapo Hall in Ibadan as our location.
I wasn't particularly familiar with shoots at this location, but there's always a first time for everything.
I'd heard of people doing shoots at this location and seen beautiful shots of it online. So I was more than geared up to explore doing a shoot at this location.
We planned for 3 outfits and maximized the classic touch of the massive building as a background perspective for the shots we took.
The massive pillars gave some symmetry to the pictures
For all the shots, we predominantly used natural light and bounced it off a reflector to the subject, to get that glow up on the face.
Used the 'leading lines' principle for this shot
One of my most favorite shots of the day. The expression was just smile-inducing
What's portrait photography without some black and white shots
This was probably one of the most epic👌 shots of the day
Still made use of bounced off natural light in achieving this close up headshot, and it did come out well
Well, I didn't mention that we had 2 wonderful models also join in the shoot to make a fantastic trio with the pictures.
Yes, her daughters also joined in after much persuasion and they did well with striking a good pose with mummy.
Yeah, we tried to do the love sign after many tries to make their hands come together in sync
So what do you think?
Do you like the pictures?
