The Lobed Spider

I rarely stumble across picture-worthy moments that give me the opportunity of taking great pictures during everyday activities.

But recently I found one!
I was walking back home from work on a weekday. I was quite close to the kerb of the road and walking beside some bushes, plants and flowers.

I took my time walking on the kerb like kids would do and running my fingers through the plants. But my eye caught something interesting before my hand got to disrupt it!
I saw a BIG spider (at least bigger than those I would see on a regular day).

Despite it being not uncommon, it looked fascinating within the web it had hewn.
I initially thought I would have a hard time getting shots from it, but it remained comfortably at the centre of its web unperturbed.

This spider belongs to a family of spiders called Agriope lobata. They're apparently quite common is some parts of Africa and Asia, especially in warm and humid regions. But then we don't get to see them in the household as they're usually out in the fields or forests. The female are usually larger than the male.
They are usually stripped yellow and black, sometimes extending to the legs.
And they have these characteristic lobes under their belly, hence the name 'lobata'.
They are also non poisonous.

I did not have a camera without me asides 'the camera in my pocket'. So I decided to frame shots of the spider with natural light available, and I think they came out well enough.

How are the pictures?
Hope they came out good!

Thanks for checking in!
