We continue this amazing challenge where we not only talk about kindness but also practice it...
In last week's challenge update post, @dreemsteem mentioned how we (dreemers) "are being molded moment by moment into vessels of life-changing power!"
She further mentioned how we have been challenged to strip ourselves from the things holding us back and how we grab the opportunities coming our way to blossom and grow into the best versions of ourselves.
With that in mind, this is where I would like to emphasize the importance (in my opinion) during this challenge, of not only reading, talking, and writing about KINDNESS, but practicing more kindness by building/creating HABITS OF KINDNESS. Kindness should become such an integral part of our lifestyle, that it shouldn't require any thinking. It should be a spontaneous action.
There is a general idea out there that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. The real study actually showed that it takes a minimum of 21 days to form a new habit. You can read more about it here!. There are various articles that you can find that would confirm that it would differ from individual to individual how long it would take to form a new habit, depending on various factors.
But I think the fact that we know it would require a minimum of 21 days, makes this challenge the perfect opportunity to start building a new habit of kindness. After the three weeks of this collaboration, we should have a good foundation to keep building and improving until it becomes a habit.
What Have We Done or Achieved So Far?
On March 4, we saw many amazing posts being shared by Dreemers who told us what KINDNESS means to them.
For the rest of last week, we kept a Kindness Journal and participated in the Kindness fact-a-day project by @gregscloud.
And finally, we saw more amazing posts coming in on Thursday to take part in the challenge!
Our Second Week: What it entails.
- Kindness journal
- Kindness fact-a-day (by @gregscloud )
- Weekly Challenge post
Our Kindness Journal is simple!
You do the same as last week..., except, you'll have new suggestions this week.
Each day - take one of these suggestions (or create your own!) and simply do one!!! Keep track of what you do, because on Thursday, you'll be telling us what you did from Friday (March 8) to Thursday (March 14!) On your challenge post - at the bottom, state what you did each day, and feel free to add how you felt, how the other person reacted, something unexpected - etc!
Here are your SUGGESTIONS for this week - but remember, they are only suggestions! Feel free to be inspired to do something new - or .. one or two! (or more??) Can you even imagine how many lives we can touch by the end of this month???? THINK ABOUT THAT!
- Write a letter to a friend or family member expressing how much they mean to you.
- Compliment a stranger. A nice comment from an unexpected source can be very uplifting.
- Leave a positive note in a library book for the next reader.
- Hold the door open for others, even if they seem far away. A simple act of courtesy.
- Offer genuine compliments to coworkers. Acknowledging hard work boosts morale!
- Practice patience with those who are learning a new language or skill. Celebrate their efforts!
- Leave a cheerful note and a few coins taped to a vending machine to make someone's day.
- Donate blood to save lives. Help someone in need.
- Share your meal with someone experiencing hunger. A shared meal can be a profound act of kindness.
- Leave a small gift or thank you note for your mail carrier. Appreciate those who work hard for us.
- Write and mail letters to seniors in retirement homes. Brighten their day with your words.
- Call a friend or family member you haven’t spoken to in a while. Reconnect and share love.
- Donate gently used clothes or toys to a family in need. Help lighten their load.
- Assemble and distribute winter care packages for the homeless, including gloves, hats, and warm socks.
Whatever you decide to do - keep track in your KINDNESS JOURNAL, and ADD that to the bottom of your Challenge Post for this week!!!
Kindness fact-a-day
Again, you do the same as last week...
Head to @gregscloud on Dbuzz, and see what his Kindness fact is that day! Add a comment and share it out if you like! Every day - one comment will be chosen to receive 100 DREEM! Can you imagine the activity each day on these kindness facts??? Feel free to share on other social medias! Let's spread the word because our WORDS MATTER!!!
The WEEKLY CHALLENGE POST for Week 2!
We now allow for posts to be submitted on any day. BUT REMEMBER... since you have your Kindness Journal to add onto the post and your post is DUE on Thursday, March 7 - PLEASE make your post ON Thursday so it can have your FULL journal entries on it!
You have a choice of THREE options to write your post on this week.
The MAESTRO OF KINDNESS @gregscloud has compiled these for us beautifully. Do think about which one speaks to you - and share with us!!
- Forgiveness Kindness:
How does forgiveness contribute to healing and promote kindness towards oneself and others?
Questions to consider:
In what ways can offering forgiveness be an act of kindness?
What benefits can arise from releasing grudges, resentment, and negative emotions?
How does forgiveness impact both healing and kindness towards oneself and others?
- Business and Kindness:
How does integrating kindness into business practices impact employee satisfaction and public image?
Questions to consider:
What specific acts of kindness can be incorporated into business operations to boost employee satisfaction?
How does fostering a culture of kindness affect employee morale and productivity?
In what ways can demonstrating kindness towards customers improve public perception of a business?
How can kindness be integrated into leadership and management styles to enhance employee satisfaction and public image?
What are the potential challenges or drawbacks of emphasizing kindness in a business environment?
- Self-Kindness:
How does practicing self-kindness contribute to fostering personal well-being?
Questions to consider:
How does treating oneself with kindness and respect impact one's overall well-being?
In what ways can self-compassion influence our mental and emotional health?
How does caring for oneself affect relationships with others?
What are some practical ways to incorporate self-kindness into daily life?
How can developing self-compassion help in overcoming challenges and setbacks?
So choose one of those three topics above for your Challenge Post due on Thursday! Don't forget to add your Kindness Journal to the bottom of the post! And hop over to @gregscloud's dbuzz Kindness facts each day to spread the word and spread the kindness!!!!
