The whistle, in addition to hitting pots, was a symbol of protest during Milosevic's regime in Serbia at the end of the twentieth century.
The point was to make as much noise as possible, so that the followers of the regime, who blindly believed what they saw on television and took it for granted, would not hear well what was being marketed to them on TV...
Today, the whistle in Serbia is once again relevant. Milošević is long gone, but there is another politician who needs to leave.
It is high time that the destruction that we have been experiencing in recent years ends.
Several terrible things have happened in our country lately.
In the wake of his upbringing, a minor killed his school friends with a gun last year.
The fall of the canopy of the Novi Sad railway station killed 15 people, and the authorities tried to hide the cause.
A dubious investor, rigged tenders, and finally, when the tragedy had already happened, the reckless statements of some of the politicians in power, influenced the students to join the protests that started last year.
How would you feel if you heard some shitty politician, who has been in all government structures for 30 years, say the following: "Well, what do you want, the emergency services didn't have much work at all, everyone who was under the canopy when it fell, are all immediately killed".
Or an ignorant person, who declared that children, until they reach adulthood, do not belong to their parents, but to the state...
Well, fuck them, they deserved not only the protests of people who think about their future, but a noose around their neck.
Today I heard a sentence by Bojan Ljubenovic, a writer from my generation, who, like me, participated in the protests before 25 years...
He says he found a new whistle among his son's belongings. He took out his whistle, which is more than 25 years old, from a drawer.
He sat down at the kitchen table, placed both whistles in front of him and imagined.
His (and my generation) failed to fight for their future and theirs. And now with this kind of government, it is necessary for the next generation to take matters into their own hands. Because this new generation does not want to run away, to emigrate from their country as the previous ones did, they want to raise their voice and fight for your survival.
Let's do everything, if only the next, third generation, never has to have their own whistle.
For this reason, today, December 22, 2024, in the streets of Belgrade in protest, in addition to students, there are also all those who are members of that older generation, which was not successful in achieving a better future for themselves and their children.
And now they are on the streets, where I am too, to provide support in that fight for a better life for their children and young people...
Trg Slavija, today at 4 p.m., a large number of people gathered with dignity to block the largest roundabout in the city.
The strongest message was the "thunderous" and dead silence, which was delivered to the injured people in Novi Sad.
For 15 minutes, in absolute silence, over 50,000 people held the lights of their mobile phones on, to illuminate the sky with light for those suffering people...
The power of emotion that was in the air above our heads at that moment was incredibly strong, the likes of which I have not felt in my city for a long time...
A dead silence overcame the whistle...
And you know when people are the most dangerous. when they shut up.
Everyone in the blockade!
