The only bridge that separates us from where we are to where we want to be in life is "fear". The very moment it's creepy shadows envelopes us, oftentimes we retrace our steps, returning to the point where comfort was harmless and growth retardant. For this purpose of this week's prompt, I'll be sharing a nonfiction article on what has always held me back from doing that which may be profitable to me.
My childhood story may be boring, and worse when I have to write the story too often. I wouldn't want to bore you with all that, but here is the point from my childhood programming, "I never had the time to learn anything, trying to survive an illness that almost claimed my life was all that mattered". So, when I was healthy, finally at the age of 15, my greatest fear became the fear of rejection. This fear of rejection became my roadblock for things I truly wanted to do and one of these is "Forfeiting the course I studied, and go for the one I truly wanted(which means going back as an undergraduate on a different course" but then I fear the proposal will be rejected especially now that I can't fuel the bills.
Maybe my look was a bit deceiving, everyone believed I would do good in the medical practice, coupled with the fact that I did well in my science courses. So when I proposed studying mechanical engineering, everyone rejected it and the family suggested I go into the medical line. At first I thought it was a great Idea until I realized I never had passion for it even while studying. I graduated with a first class, but one thing nobody knew was , I had no love for the course I studied. My heart still probes for engineering and I don't mind starting again if I have the opportunity to. I know nobody will support me on this, but if I had my chance, it's one thing I've always wanted to do, and I believe I'll do it someday, even if it means learning mechanics from a roadside mechanic. I believe I'd be happy as an engineer more than being called a doctor. Who knows, fate may have something rewarding for me there.
