Initiative Coffee Conversation: large coffee shop chains vs small family businesses...Union or competition?🤔☕✨

What are your thoughts on large coffee shop chains vs small family run businesses?

Before I open thread with this topic 😄, I would first like to say that in my opinion both are important and necessary for personal and economic growth in a given place.

Why? ... easy, I think that each one is useful and provides a positive benefit on its part.

A great point in favor of the large chains of coffee shops is that they provide a large number of jobs, both for those who want to start in this branch, because they like it and want to learn, as well as for those who are looking for an extra income with a relatively easy part-time or part-time job. In addition, there, you can gain good work experience in both preparation and customer service for a future independent family business.

While small family businesses, although they do not compare with the large chains, I think they are not looking to compete with them, I simply think they are looking to become independent and start their own business and perhaps a future branch like the large chains.

It is obvious that the existence of these large coffee shop chains has its pros and cons with respect to the small family coffee shop businesses, but far from harming them, perhaps, looking at the positive side, they can serve as an example and thus grow someday as much as they do, as long as they offer a good product and the best service to the public, which is also very important.

A clear example of this is a story that happened to my friend. She liked everything about coffee but did not have the necessary money to start her own business, and decided one day to work in a coffee shop that, although it did not belong to a large chain, was quite well known and popular in the city. Thanks to this, she was able to learn a lot about what it takes to be a good barista, as well as having that extra income to start her own business in the future. Today she no longer works in that coffee shop but in something independent, preparing homemade coffees with her personal touch!

I think that the final answer to this is in the interpretation of each person, many will see something negative, others will see something positive, and others will simply think like me that both far from harming and competing with each other, they are united by something very big and that is the love for coffee...and the more coffee shops entities exist (small or big) to spread coffee all over the world...the better for us !!!😁☕💕

I hope you liked it and I invite you to join this initiative...🤗

Those are great points to both types of Cafes. You're right about the larger chains being able to employ more people and help them get valuable work experience. Great story about your friend as well.

Hellooo friend @leaky20 🤗 glad you liked my opinion regarding this...although everyone has their own point of view and interpretation, I think (as would a small family business) that something positive can come out of this, and what better than a good work experience 😁. Thank you so much for your support always!!! It is greatly appreciated 💕🥰.

Your points are thoughtful and critically true.
I agree with them.

About providing jobs, and also the opportunity to use those large chains as a stepping stone is an undeniable truth... and you are spot on there.
When I was planning to open my coffee shop, that was exactly my wish; to work at a large chain to gain experience and knowledge.

Thank you very much dear Milly @millycf1976 ☺️🤗 glad you liked my opinion on the subject...we share that point of view hehe...good for you and your coffee shop 💕

Thank you 😍😘
