Symbiotic Relationship

in #hive-1932129 days ago

I was a little bit curious when I found these black ants wandering around on the Magnolia Campaga ornamental plant in front of my neighbor's house. My curiosity take the best of me, so I take a look of them to find out what they were actually protecting or doing. And they were mostly around these big white aphids, and also some smaller ones.

Then I realized that ants and also aphids have a symbiotic relationship. Both of them are benefiting from each other company. I knew the info from the past, but still, I could not wrap my head around that until I found these photos.

And the fact that the ants are there around the aphids kind of make all those old info make sense to me. It is quite late isn't it? but thanks to my macro photography hobbies now, I think I can learn a thing or two. hahah

so what do each of them get on this relationships?

I think it is so easy to guess what the ants could offer to the aphids. since we know how painful the ants bites can be to human, then I guess they can be a good security for the aphids against the predators as they can attack the aphids predators with they bite and also when they attack they make sure to bring a big platoon with them. : )

On the other hand, the apids have to pay some fee fo the guarding service the ants give them. And they would offer sweet substances that they secrete for the ants to eat. Although the way aphids produce it a little bit weird for us, but a food source is still a food that can keep the ants belly full.

Another interesting way of Nature works isn't it?

Hey @ekavieka, here is a little bit of BEER from @pixresteemer for you. Enjoy it!

I am not sure but to me these small white dots look like mealybugs, and as per my experience, these ants come to the plants not to make friends with them but to eat them and in this fight between the two, the plants suffer a lot. I think so because most of my vegetable plants suffer from it every year.
But the way you described their relationship is lovely!😊

I hope that you can get rid of them my friend.
not sure the relationship, but I do think that it is the symbiotic mutualism one, because the white bug is still there the next day when I come to check them a well as the ant.
It is always a hard time to have pest in our garden isn't it?

Seriously, Who cares about their relationship, just our garden should not be ruined but it truly hits hard when they attack the healthy flourishing plants.
