Hola amigos queridos papas y mamás de #hive y de @motherhood. Hoy compartiendo mis errores, experiencia y aprendizaje durante mi primer embarazo.

Cuando estaba jóven soñaba con tener hijos y una familia grande, desconociendo los cuidados y responsabilidades de este deseo. Pero es así, nos llega nuestro momento y lo vivimos con emociones, equivocaciones y también felicidad.

En mi caso había cumplido con la etapa de estudiar y ya a punto de graduarme como profesional; conocí a mi esposo. Decidimos casarnos y al corto tiempo salí embarazada. Eran pocos los conocimientos sobre los cuidados que debía tener en relación a la alimentación en esta etapa tan importante. Lo afirmo hoy en día, ya que fué determinante en los problemas de salud que me generaron.

When I was young I dreamed of having children and a big family, not knowing the care and responsibilities of this desire. But that's how it is, our time comes and we live it with emotions, mistakes and also happiness.

In my case, I had completed my studies and was about to graduate as a professional; I met my husband. We decided to get married and soon after I became pregnant. I had little knowledge about the care I had to take in relation to nutrition during this important stage. I affirm it today, since it was determinant in the health problems that generated me.

Mis controles médicos eran normales y cumplía con las medicamentos o las vitaminas que recomendaba mi doctora. Por desconocimiento, consumía una series de comidas que me encantaban, pero eran cargadas en gran proporción de carbohidratos refinados. Además de otros alimentos con alto contenido de sodio, entre ellos: chucherías saladas y dulces.

En aquella época no poseía conocimientos de los cuidados durante el embarazo. Lo que tenía en mi mente eran las cosas que me decían otras personas y lo que me recomendaba el médico en mis controles, que eran cosas muy básicas.

Durante la mitad de mi embarazo comencé a presentar problemas de retención de líquido y presión arterial alta. Los aumentos de peso de cada mes fueron más de lo normal. Es así que los dos últimos meses fueron críticos y de reposo absoluto. Tanto que la doctora acudía a mi propia casa para chequearme.

My medical controls were normal and I complied with the medications or vitamins recommended by my doctor. Out of ignorance, I consumed a series of foods that I loved, but they were loaded with a high proportion of refined carbohydrates. In addition to other foods with high sodium content, among them: salty snacks and sweets.

At that time I had no knowledge of pregnancy care. What I had in my mind were the things that other people told me and what the doctor recommended during my check-ups, which were very basic things.

During the middle of my pregnancy I started to have problems with fluid retention and high blood pressure. The weight gains each month were more than normal. So the last two months were critical and of absolute rest. So much so that the doctor came to my own house to check me.

Cabe destacar que realicé una dieta baja en sal y reduje en parte los carbohidratos refinados. A pesar de todo eso no mejoré como se esperaba. Para mayor preocupación la doctora me explicó en ese entonces, los efectos de esta condición para mí bebé.

Fueron momentos de mucha preocupación. Llegado el momento no pude parir sino que me hicieron cesárea. Comencé a botar líquido y la prensión alta. A Dios gracias mi hija nació bien. A mí me dejaron tres días más por haber presentado Preeclampsia.

Ésta experiencia la quise compartir por la importancia que tiene la preparación física y psicológica antes, durante y después del embarazo. No es solo desear tener hijos sino los cuidados de nuestro cuerpo cuando deseamos a ese ser querido que nos traerá felicidad.

Those were very worrying moments. When the time came, I could not give birth and I had to have a cesarean section. I began to leak fluid and high blood pressure. Thank God my daughter was born well. I was left for three more days because I had preeclampsia.

I wanted to share this experience because of the importance of physical and psychological preparation before, during and after pregnancy. It is not only the desire to have children but also the care of our body when we want that loved one that will bring us happiness.

A todas las mujeres y hombres que se quieren convertir en padres, les señalo algunos aspectos y enseñanzas que aprendí con mi experiencia.

  • Para procrear debemos tener condiciones de salud en general aptas. Ya que será determinante en la formación, desarrollo y nacimiento de un bebé sano que llegará a nuestras vidas.

  • Documentarse, investigar, consultar a especialistas sobre la alimentación clave antes, durante y después del embarazo. Es imprescindible manejar información de valor.

  • El cuidado del embarazo es responsabilidad del padre y la madre, así que debe haber colaboración y apoyo emocional en todos los aspectos.

  • Son diversos los cuidados que debemos tener cuando estamos embarazadas. Siempre deberán ser basadas en las recomendaciones de los especialistas y cumplirlas sin excepción.

  • El control prenatal es imprescindible. Acudir a las evaluaciones periódicas y realizarse los exámenes que sean indicados oportunamente. La prevención es la mejor manera de evitar complicaciones y problemas mayores.

To all women and men who want to become parents, I would like to point out some aspects and lessons that I have learned from my experience.

Pregnancy is not always an easy journey feeding matters alot, to watch what you eat so that baby and mother will be healthy and less weight gain. But in all the most important is for everything to just go smooth and successful, am glad yours went well
