This year I saw again the blooming of the Lady of the Night, an exotic flower of a cactus that has been in my garden for years, no lie, since my childhood. The last time I saw this beautiful flower with its petals open was in 2018, so it's been about 6 years since I last saw it and it's not because in all that time it hasn't bloomed, it's because of other issues that define this flower.
As its name indicates, the Lady of the Night blooms only during the night, its bloom does not last more than the hours of darkness and when the sun begins to rise, its petals begin to close to not reopen unless another bud emerges.
A few months ago I shared some photos of this flower, but those photos were taken the last time I saw it, that is in 2018. Last year there was a drought and the cactus did not bloom, but throughout this year, after a long rainy season, many blooms have appeared and I was watching them to be aware of when the bloom would occur, but unfortunately I could not see them because I literally forgot.
When it bloomed during the night, late at night, I used to close the door of my house and forget that it was going to bloom that night and the next day when I woke up I saw the bud already closed and I decided to see it the next time.
It took several blooms before that happened, I always forgot about it, until one day I visualized this blossom and decided to do whatever it took to see it.
It takes several days to mature, when you can see a strip of the white of its petals, it means that the flower will bloom that night and when I saw that point, I even set an alarm on my phone to see it and I did not go to bed because deep down I felt that this would be the last of this year and I was not wrong, no more blossoms came out after this one, I managed to see it just in time.
The moment came, I was snooping around the door of my house to check if the flower had opened its petals, I was very attentive and at about 10 pm at night it was at its peak of blooming. I quickly took my phone, took Buhito and we started the photo session after 6 years without being able to see the majesty of this exotic flower and today I want to share them with you because nature gives us the best gifts there can be and from time to time we must know how to appreciate them.
Thank you very much for joining me in the blooming of the Lady of the Night, one of the most beautiful flowers that exist!
