Merengue. Un manjar de los dioses y también es un ritmo que nos acompaña en las fiestas de nuestro pueblo.
Lastima que no existen fotos de mi acto de grado de bachillerato. Porque las redes sociales no estaban tan expandidas como hoy en día. No obstante, recuerdo que esta fiesta estuvo llena de música propia de la época de principios de los años 2000. El reggaeton de esos tiempos era el tecnomerengue, Sandy Papo, Ilegales, Proyecto Uno, en esa evolución musical que más tarde desencadenaría en Daddy Yankee y compañía pocos años después.

En una reunión, sarao, fiesta o compartir pueden bailarse todos los géneros actuales y hasta pasados de moda, pero lo que nunca falta es el merengue dominicano y vaya que Wilfrido Vargas con clásicos como "El Jardinero" o "El Hombre divertido" nunca faltan en nuestras fiestas.
Y bien no recuerdo cuando me aprendí esas letras, lo que si recuerdo bien es que me las sé y aprendimos en la pista a disfrutar de lo contagioso de la tambora merenguera que tanto nos ha acompañado en modo leyenda.
Porque canciones así o por ejemplo Elvis Crespo con su "Pintameee" diciéndole al pintor que al fin le pintara la carita de su corazón o con "Suavementeee" otro éxito que se nos metió en la cabeza y aún subsiste en nuestras memorias...

Muchos amigos que conozco conforman sus orquestas y bandas e incluyen en sus repertorios, merengue clásico del bueno, sino pregunten por otros clásicos como: Eddie Herrera, Bonnie Cepeda, Fernando Villalona y Ruby Pérez con "Volveré" una canción muy particular que trata del amor de puertos con una mujer...

En mis tiempos, bailar merengue no era tan difícil por los pasos que el mismo requería. Un dos, un dos meneando la cintura al compás de la música. Vaya que bailamos mucho desde los 8 años hasta hoy día.
Conocimos nuestros primeros amores, bailamos a muchas quinceañeras, compartimos con muchas personas que a lo largo de nuestro vivir ya hoy no están con nosotros... Y pues, ese sentimiento latino de bailar lo tenemos entre las venas y lo transmitimos a las nuevas generaciones. Era mucho más fácil bailar merengue que bailar salsa y más aun cuando dominabas las vueltas y volteretas que hacían dinámico el encuentro. Varias veces pisé los pies de mis compañeras y varias veces también me los pisaron. Con el tecnomerengue ocurría casi que lo mismo con el "Pum Pum Pum" de bajo, el merengue mismo tomó una variante modernista que al final lo refrescó...
Antes, mínimo para salir de rumba uno debía saber bailar este ritmo y bailar changa o moderno con pasos más sencillos, a diferencia de la salsa que es un poco más complicada pero bastaba con mejorar nuestras habilidades en baile y uno dominaba cualquier género... Eran tiempos de la transición del vinilo al CD y hoy día con el obsoleto mp3 y formatos como Spotify y YouTube sobrevive aun la fiebre del merengue con los veteranos exponentes que aún viven y las nuevas versiones que subsisten con nuevos artistas... Mientras tanto seguimos bailando hasta que amanezca. Hasta la próxima. Dios les bendiga...
