❤️❤️❤️ You may remember Rosette and her children.
A year ago, they also lost their house in a landslide.
We built them a new one.
Vanessa, Rosette's daughter, graduated from primary school last year.
We were asked if we could pay the school fees for the secondary school.
We declined.
It costs around €600 a year and we don't want to commit ourselves,
having to raise the money over several years.
It's not an option for us to give the children hope,
only to be told later that we can't pay the school fees and they have to drop out
of school.
We also have no desire to organize sponsorships.
The Uganda project is already taking up a lot of my free time
and I don't want to add to that...
Last week, Bosco wrote to me that Rosette was with him and was crying,
because she can't afford to pay for her daughter Vanessa's education.
Someone in the village has helped her out with money to pay the school fees at a sewing school.
But that's not enough and she can't get the rest together.
I asked how much was still missing. I got the answer: €30 for 1.5 years of school plus graduation.
Okay, we thought that the girl's education shouldn't fail because of this amount.
We said that we would take it on.
The joy was naturally great!
My husband and I sent Bosco the money.
When the money arrived in Uganda, Bosco realized that something was wrong.
I had already wondered about the small sum and I had also asked again...
Well, Bosco had miscalculated when he juggled the figures.
It wasn't €30 that was missing, but €160.
If we had known this beforehand, we would have declined, because at the moment we are collecting
for Promise's family, for a new house
(this is the family whose daughter was buried in the house and who are now homeless).
But that's the way it is.
We didn't have the heart not to support Vanessa
and will of course pay the rest....
As so often, we get a beaming smile in return...priceless!
❤️❤️❤️ Vielleicht erinnert ihr euch an Rosette und ihre Kinder.
Vor einem Jahr hatten auch sie bei einem Erdrutsch ihr Haus verloren.
Wir haben ihnen ein Neues gebaut.
Vanessa, Rosettes Tochter hat letztes Jahr ihren Primary Abschluss gemacht.
Wir wurden gefragt, ob wir die Schulgebühren für die Secondary School,
das ist die weiterführende Schule, bezahlen könnten.
Wir haben das abgelehnt.
Das kostet im Jahr ca. 600,-€ und wir möchten uns nicht verpflichten,
das Geld über mehrere Jahre besorgen zu müssen.
Es ist für uns keine Option, den Kindern Hoffnung zu machen,
um dann vielleicht später zu sagen , das wir das Schulgeld nicht zahlen können
und sie die Schule abbrechen müssen.
Wir haben auch keine Lust, Patenschaften zu organisieren.
Das Uganda-Projekt kostet mich jetzt schon einen großen Teil meiner Freizeit
und das möchte ich nicht noch erweitern...
Letzte Woche schrieb mir Bosco, dass Rosette bei ihm war und geweint hat,
weil sie das Geld nicht aufbringen kann für die Ausbildung ihrer Tochter Vanessa.
Jemand im Dorf hat ihr mit Geld ausgeholfen, um die Schulgebühren in einer Nähschule zu bezahlen. Das reiche aber nicht und den Rest bekommt sie nicht zusammen.
Ich fragte, wieviel denn noch fehlt. Als Antwort bekam ich : 30,-€ für 1,5 Jahre Schule plus Abschluß. Okay, an dieser Summe soll die Ausbildung des Mädchens nicht scheitern, dachten wir.
Wir sagten, dass wir das übernehmen, die Freude war natürlich groß!
Mein Mann und ich haben Bosco das Geld geschickt .
Als das Geld in Uganda ankam, merkte Bosco, dass etwas nicht stimmte.
Gewundert hatte ich mich über die kleine Summe schon und ich hatte auch noch einmal nachgefragt...
Naja, Bosco hatte sich verrechnet als er mit den Zahlen jonglierte.
Es fehlten nicht 30€, sondern 160,-€.
Hätten wir das vorher gewußt, hätten wir abgelehnt, denn im Moment sammeln wir
für Promises Familie, für ein neues Haus (das ist die Familie, deren Tochter im Haus verschüttet wurde (tot) und die jetzt obdachlos ist).
Aber wie das so ist.
Wir haben es nicht übers Herz gebracht, vanessa nicht zu unterstützen
und werden natürlich auch den Rest noch bezahlen....
Dafür bekommen wir wie so oft ein strahlendes Lächeln...eigentlich unbezahlbar!
