Though they say customers are always right but the justification is to keep them coming because if they customers aren’t coming, no way you will be able to make your sales even if if it’s a pin they come to purchase from you. Do not neglect or exhibit wrong behaviors towards your customers.

Long time ago, I worked in a computer store which we sell fairly used and new laptop. A customer came to purchase one and I knew from her reaction she might be the problematic type I wasn’t bothered all I needed was her money to get the laptop sold.

Here was the laptop

It is a normal routine to test every computer systems brought into our store by the manager and ensure they are in good condition before been put out for sale. To cut the long story short, I decided to re- test run the system in her presence with everything working fine and she loved the laptop because it suits the type of job she wanted to do. Though it was a rainy day that evening and she was advised to either come back tomorrow for the laptop purchase due to the rain so as not to damage any part because she want holding any bad to contain the system. We had to take caution because it’s a new model laptop.

She insisted on still taking the system home despite the rain.
We already thought that’s was a good business to make a good sale for the day not knowing that it will result into issues the following day.

The next day she came complaining that the laptop screen was bad and she justified that there are some laptops that their screen is closer to been damage, it only happens when the customer isn’t aware it happens like that she said. She even stated an instance when her friend bought a laptop and unknowingly she took it home and it developed a screen issue.

All this she was saying, we all understood it was a lie; probably she rested on the screen as a result of tiredness. She wanted justice and my boss only offered the suggestion if she wants the screen replace she have to bear the cost. She denied having a part to play and myself understood and remembered when she was cautioned not to take the system home that night due to the rain.

What happened next?

She took the case to a nearby police station and the police were happy enough that it involves a laptop selling company.

The first thing the police did when they came was to arrest the manager for selling fake laptop. We had to call a superior police officer who came to our assistance.
Everything was solved later on at the end after explaining it to the superior police officer came.

We knew it was the lady who spoilt the laptop screen, probably it fell from her or she rested on it overnight whilst sleeping. We were asked to pay part of the money for the screen which we paid 30% and she paid 70% from logistical point of view. We had to increase the price of the screen so we would not suffer loss due to someone’s mistake.

Thanks for reading this, I appreciate the time spent. Do have a lovely day

That was not quite good, anyways good to know she paid the larger part thank you for sharing this.

It's obvious the fault was hers. And everyone knew, a brand new laptop cannot have faulty injured/broken screen immediately just after sale. So who lied? Are customers now right?

You people played wisely by increasing the price of the screen, she should have known buying a used even tested item with no guarantee, she should have been more careful and she was even advised not to enter the rain, she learnt the hard way, next time she will know even the police are all after their own personal gain.

It's not a used system, it's a brand new laptop. The liked it because of its portability.
It's a nice laptop. She only made expensive mistake.

Are can someone people be so rude why did she had to inform the police on a matter that can be resolved anyway some people just think they are on top of the world.

It a good thing you guys took a senior police officer which I believe that make the matter resolved peacefully.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Eyeneka, thank you for reading

It's always a pleasure ufan mi

Yea friend, thanks for reading, that was the only peaceful way of resolving.

How rude of her. Sometimes, these are the sellers who play tricks and sell bad and damaged products. At other times these are the customers who damage the products and come whinning about your fakeness.

Involvement of police in any case makes the scenerio worse as the police is only concerned with their own gains. It's good to know that the senior officer came to support you.

How did she agree to pay the money for screen ? As you told she was not ready to pay for it

That was the only option when she discovered the shouts and stuff are not making any sense anymore. But we don't sell fake products. We test run them. The screen was damaged as if an object fell on it. It was visible that the ink spread. The fault is from her. Thanks for reading.

She destroyed it and wanted you to pay for it. The careless lady
