Iznik, formerly known as Nicaea, was one of the important centers of the Roman Empire. Iznik is one of the districts of Bursa.

Important sarcophagi are exhibited in the museum. One of them is the Sarcophagus of Achilles.
According to the analysis of experts, the statues on this sarcophagus describe the Trojan War, and it has been determined that the statues on it belong to the Greek Aka King Agamemnon, Achilles and his captive Briseis.
They explained that on the other side of the sarcophagus there were statues describing spring, summer and autumn. 2
